Thought you opposed the revolution of surfboards in kiting Slave, not to mention twisted bowel stance as you so elegantly describe it

There are no rules, dude. ^^^
Can't be.
If there were, kitesurfing would not have happened in the first place.
Follow your own path and free-up your mind.
The revolution of kite-surfboards has a ways to go, though.
Those lumps of lead need to be lightned up a bunch.
But lightness doesn't always equate to strength.

Twisted-bowel stance is just an answer to a problem.
The rider's problem of bias.
It's a head-thing.
Kiting can be a totally balanced sport.
Complete equilibrium of body and mind.
Yin and yang.

After 30 years of surfing looks like the young lady is about to get a onshore, back door barrel to me, over a shallow rock shelf maybe or low tide beachy. Surfed for 12 months in Portugal where this shot was taken and the waves are all super shallow pitching rock shelves or heavy beachies, very similar power to down south WA. Saw a 20ft plus swell at Peniche in 1986 last for a week, massive, perfect offshore winds, death material, jet skis we'nt invented, we surfed inside a habour on reforms that were 8ft. Drank alot of red wine and ate great seafood.

A barrels a barrel in 6ft or under, just pull in a go straight, not that hard in surfing, not hard at all in kiting, the hard thing in surfing is taking off deep enough. Had hundreds surfing and many kiting - way easier kiting on your fore hand. 6ft to 8ft and over is a different storey, you need big big balls and lots of skill ...

The question I ask is, is she switch.... now switch tube riding is farken hard a truely farked up head space ... trying it for 12 months and its pretty FUN.

HATS OFF TO HER, I"m sure she was having the most FUN at that beach that day, and FUN is what our sport has in spades.

If I was't married with 3 kids I'Id ask her out for dinner to share red wine and seafood, and a pour praise upon her tube riding and I may even get ..... later .... dreaming now

I believe she's a natural-foot surfer. ^^^
So she's riding twisted-bowel switch in the backdoor pic.

OK hard core guys I know its tuff to eat a little humble pie at times

I have no doubt she is in the barrell look at the lip pitching in front of her and look at her board position she is not at the bottom of the wave but about 1/3 up the face of the wave, qualify

But then again thats a moment in time maybe she straghtened out and then got lip to head

Looks like fun to me! who cares if its up wind or down wind. I bet she got a good look inside that Crystal bowl and it was Rush. Joy!

You who cares if its up wind?... Only the small minded few who keep trying to push their ideas on how we should ride and whats legit or not. Wake up your only limiting yourselfs from having fun.

Thats what makes kite surfing so good!! their are no rules and you can ride up wind, boost, hack,un hook, tack and get yourself into all kinds of positions and situations that you can with no other sport.

Umm - no, she's goofy in the 1st shot - and natural in the 2nd.

I've met top waveriders who were equally comfortable with both stance, she might be just that..
(..and I know well one not quite as good waverider who could still not figure out if he is goofy or natural..)
