How am I doing so far, flatwater-guy ?

I think you will find there isn't one single flat water location at my home spot/s... I grew up in the waves. So I am hardly "flat water-guy"... Whatever that means anyway hahaha.

Yep I just checked out her website and I'd say she ia a natural footer, all of the photo's of her surfing lefthanders she is riding natural, kiting on lefts she is riding goofy though.
She is riding natural wether kiting or surfing on righthanders.
See photo below

oops wrong photo

P.S. I think I'm in love.

Looks to me like she's riding backhand on a left there...
Kiting switch hooked in and strapped in isn't hard, I don't see what you guys are frothing out about, maybe you haven't hit the ham wallet in a while or something?

Sir Rowdy please show me your switch forhand shots and when I see them we will feel you have an opinion. As an aside to conversation remember Mr Felix P can and in my opinion has been leading All kiters in the natural / swtich kiting style, both unstrapped and strapped both directions, he hits it hard both ways, few commenters on this site can claim any thing close. Few have slide into a barrel clean switch as this Kiter above. Love kiting and all of it's styles. Great Post to get us chatting.

Passionate switch Kiter because I live in the land of perfect lefts ... Would prefer to kite forhand in WA As a natural stance it is a rare winter NW occurance.

Great barrel shot, even better switch...

There are tons of shots of people riding in the flats switch out there... Hey Im sure there's some of me on the net somewhere to, Im not going to waste my time looking for one though.

The truth of the matter is, She is about to get smashed on the head by a wave whist riding along switch toeside, she isn't surfing a barrel switch, she is leaning against a kite on a switch tack... hardly anything even remotely close to surfing a barrel switch.

As for felix and other people riding switch forehand. I am yet to see anyone riding switch forehand (unstrapped, unhooked) that looks any good, hell people can hardly make it look good on their natural tack, why make it worse. Not only this but why would you want to make riding waves look and feel even more monotonous than it already is by riding with your front to the wave both ways... In my opinion backhand riding when done properly kiting looks far better than frontside and often feels better to.

Just watched the new Slayers & the Island of mental hardcore DOOM a WAVES mag DVD shot in Hawaii 2009/2010 and I gotta say we as kiters got a long way to go if you compare to surfers going off. I reckon kiting is a differnt vibe.. Back hand kiting is a low cousin to surfing. Forehand kiting is getting there... I reckon the tube rider above pulled it off easliy and on the day surfers were on the beach hating the onshore winds, kiters get into blowen out waves and that's where we can have to much fun, unstrapped/ strapped/ unhooked etc..

A "tube" is getting barreled and coming out, not riding low and getting hit on the head by an ok looking wave.
Your right though, kiting is a different vibe you get towed back out again (much like towing in with a jetski) but are you trying to say they don't ride switch surfing? Check out Jaime O at pipe...

Jamie O swtich at Pipe not towed in behind the peak by at kite, jet ski etc. I agree ... a completely different space, kiting will never get close.... But never seen a surfer bottom turn and smash a powered reo or BIG air switch.. Never... but see it every day at My local Beachy by lots of the boyz having FUN after work ... Just an observation...

"But never seen a surfer bottom turn and smash a powered reo or BIG air switch.. Never..."

You know why... because it's hard, and for the most part looks crap, as it does kiting.
The only reason people get the false idea that they are doing/ watching great switch kite waveriding is because the people doing it have a kite to hold onto/ swing around and balance with. You don't see anyone kiting down the line without the power of the kite unhooked and unstrapped that makes it look good.
I can S turn on waves switch, I can windsurf waves switch, but to say I can truly "surf" a wave switch would be a massive lie, as is nearly anyone else who claims it.

Yeh I agree generally, a few kiters switch look as good if not better than forhand kiters, they just can't tube ride for ****ttttt switch generally, Never seen a switch Kiter ride a wave like a surfer, but never seen a Forehand Kiter surf a wave close to a Hot surfer, a differnt sport, But I still reckon she has nailed a great, green, open, pitching, barrel....

It will happen soon guys regardless of how hard you think it is to do. All it means is that you wont be the ones to do it.

Proof:
1. What Hadlow does now was "impossible" 5 years ago and not even dreamt about 7-8 years ago. (spare me the comments on the kites are better now, because that is obvious but not the point)
2. Check out what wakeboarders and snowboarders do - and by the way they get paid 10-100 times more to do it.

Simply a matter of time combined with the imagination and determination of some 12 yr old somewhere.

We are all so yesterday............

Wrong.
What part of what Hadlow does was impossible? it was all done more than 5 years ago (even 7 to 8) in some shape or form, most of it exactly the same.
Of course it can be and probably will be done by someone, you only need to look at skating to realise that. But a difference that is perfectly highlighted in skating as it must be in surf or kite is that the switch trick/ riding actually has to be good... It has to be up there with everything else you do. There is a reason you watch a skate film and question whether that whole part was skated switch... It's because they do it so well that you don't know the difference unless you know the rider.

Kiting is far from this stage, very far. People struggle to make it work and look good regular, lets not get ahead of our selfs and froth on the sheer "technicality" of it like it seems to be done in the freestyle side of kiting (Which in my opinion has killed it).
Surfing waves (more than anything else just about) is about flow style and control. Don't wreck it by being another switch frontside claimer.

p.s. I really can't stress how boring it is also to watch someone ride frontside both ways... why would you? Of course I can understand people who want to do it for the thrill and challenge, but don't go acting like its next level riding.

taking a dump whilst kiting isnt that technical unless your in a wetsuit. can get tricky then.. just lean back in ya harness and feed the fish.. and wash out then pull ya strides back up again.. can be done switch or regular. toeside is abit messy
