Nimbin is a cesspool of meth heads now mate, I wouldn't be going to live there if you want to get in touch with your 'hippie' side. It's certainly not the place it used to be five years ago, unfortunately.

Although I think the closest kiteable beach would be Byron Bay.

Forget Nimbin. Go back to school. In the short term you'll have my gratitude for whatever spelling improvements you can make. In the long term I'll have your gratitude as you'll have some decent career options available beyond dealing pot and lying to Centrelink.

Unless this is an Alex Sanz troll...?

Hey dildJo where do you get off being critical of a young bloke who is unknown to you....young Alex is a very decent and courteous young man currently working as an apprentice and off his own back has been successful in obtaining another apprenticeship up north where his parents have decided to live...YOU have MY gratitude for staying in Mexico ... you would last ten minutes up here with your smart ass attitude .... amazing what an education does for people....pity You didn't use yours....keep your comments restricted to kiting issues ....everytime you go off course you end up looking like a tosser....my comments are of a purely educational purpose ...for you

Hey Alex, it seems I jumped to some unwarranted conclusions about your reasons for heading North, and perhaps when you get to Nimbin that will make sense. There was no offense intended, I've just seen quite a few folk, young and old, head up that way and waste their lives away and I'd hate for an active kiter to be one of them. From Foxy's post it seems you've got some constructive things to do when you're there, and yes, there are some beautiful beaches too.

Seems like you'll be leaving some good buddies behind at Kurnell. They're sure looking out for you here. The North coast is a diverse place and I'm sure you'll make a bunch of friends including kiters.

@Foxy, your post sort of reinforces my point about education. The clear information that you (and Jeff) provided allowed me to respond differently. An ability to provide and to grasp clear information is a fundamental and enriching life skill.

you jumped to plenty of unwarranted coclusions there dojo; about alex, the north coast, and the relevance of the colour of someone's collar to their prospects.

courtesy is an education you obviously missed while you were at school learning to spell.

Sorry Alex, this is getting way off topic, but I'm not going to stand around and submit to a character assassination.

@Stamp, I jumped to no conclusions about the North coast or collar colour. However I do have some first-hand information:

I grew up on a farm near Taree (mid north coast) and have spent plenty of time on the north coast. I just said it was diverse, and it's a fact that its diversity includes plenty of stoners.

I never said anything about collar colour. My assumptions were that a 17 year old may be moving to Nimbin for sketchy reasons (like some that I've personally known over the years) and that if that was the case, options may be limited down the track. Clearly I now know that Alex's reasons aren't sketchy at all and I wish him all the best.

Most of my working life has been in blue collar work. I know the satisfaction that comes from practical skills and hard physical work. I also know that whatever you do for a living there are benefits that come with increased literacy, and there's no reason why people in any walk of life can't pursue it.

Peace.

okay, maybe i read a bit too much between the lines there. it just sounded as if you were suggesting that unless he finished school the only option here is to go and the dole and smoke ganja.....

alex, as has been said you are about an hour from the beach. i work randomly, based on the wind, and am always keen to do downwinders, so PM your number if you can get to brunswick heads area to kite

Call me a righteous prat (go on, you're already thinking it), but I believe that either spelling is correct. However your choice may indicate a proclivity for either British or American conventions, but only a nit-picker like me would notice that, let alone read anything into it.

A bit of levity at last, hallelujah!

Before we jump on the DJ bashing bandwagon, and in his defence, there seem to be a myriad of youngsters arriving on seabreeze who have the spelling ability of a 10 year old. Their mix of SMS spelling used on public forums is atrocious. Web browsers these days have built in spell checks so there are no excuses. If you write a question that includes words like "nelly" and "mabe", can you honestly expect not to get back a sarcastic or abusive answer on spelling? I've seen plenty before so I don't see why this should be special. Whilst DJ's actions are judgmental, its not the first time anyone here has been judgmental and hey, first impressions last.

I've received more job applications than I can count with cover sheets that include SMS style spelling and I point blank refuse to even consider a Gen Y candidate who couldn't even be bothered to learn a basic command of the english language, especially when we live in a country where education is available free to everyone. There are 3rd world countries where education is a luxury and these people have learnt a better command of the english language.

Thats my two cents, abuse away.

The kurnell crew named themselfs the kkk,

The Kurnell crew stopped using that name on the forum a few months ago after some pretty vigorous discussion here. Any person or group who is willing to take on feedback and publicly change their position has my respect on that front.

I suspect that the humility and wisdom that led to that change was in some ways facilitated by the care and language skills that went into the discussion.

Yes they were probably silly for using the acronym in the first place but now the change has been made I think we should move on. Though my sarcasm and tone can rub folk the wrong way - and perhaps I have some things to learn about that - it actually is my intention on the forums to support constructive dialogue and have fun at the same time.

Happy New Year all,

djdojo.

STRUTH ... this thread sure turned into a BIG WANK .... LETS GET ONE THING CLEAR....Alex was seeking info about kiting locations up north ....he got a bit of tongue in cheek stuff from some razzmen....good sh!t ....then a flamer nailed him for some spelling issues....and the flamer made some boofhead assumptions about lifestyle motives etc. ....this was just a result of a university education overuling common sense .... thats all OK as Alex really didn't give a hoot about that ...

HOWEVER ....the Kurnell rednecks ARE offended by certain references about buckling to pressure on this forum to change our name .... SORRY .... didn't happen .....i've been using " The Tripple " just to demonstrate how easy it is to alter perceptions , however, the reality is this.....WE are the KKK...we remain the KKK and we will always be the KKK ..... just ask the Galah ( modman ) ...even the Galah continues to use KKK as our description ... ( search his threads... ) ( and no sneaking in there Galah using your modman ability to edit out the KKK from your posts )

NOW ...JUST INCASE SOMEONE WANTS TO ELEVATE THIS P!SS TAKE INTO SOMETHING....PLEASE DON'T .... it is after all just that ....an Aussie p!ss take ....[}:)][}:)] and for those who are offended .... oh well ....as Ned said " such is life "

Foxy, the main point of the "triple" debate was precisely about perceptions on the forum. That is all that needed altering as it is all that visitors to the forum who don't know you have to go by. If you still want to refer to yourselves with the acronym at the beach and among buddies who share your sense of humour then that's none of our business, though we may wonder why you would.

If my good wishes to Alex and my efforts to clarify my initial post and to extend an olive branch are unappreciated by the "triple" crew then so be it. Perhaps I shall find some solace (and for those who ain't sure, I'm being slightly, but only slightly, facetious) in the words of a man who had real reason to fear the KKK:

This campaign has taught me much; that leaders must be tough enough to fight, tender enough to cry, human enough to make mistakes, humble enough to admit them, strong enough to absorb the pain, and resilient enough to bounce back and keep on moving.
