Is that wind cross/offshore?
If so, what contingencies do these guys use in case 'what happens next' isn't a relaunch and screaming barrel?

Joe there isn't anywhere you realy want to come in down wind when it's big so 50m downwind if you havn't lauched your kite it's time to paddle in minus kite. Best bet is to not drop the kite or take your old kites
