The line that runs through the pulley, is actually a coated polyester sheathed aramid core, very long lasting, but if it wears, its easily replaced, Pulley wears, replace it.
Same as Flysurfers... your point is what, exactly?

I'm sorry it it hurts your brain, but I was responding to a post from Plummet. Ozone call it the "speed system", because it speeds up or slows the forward movement of the kite.

Kitepower Australia said.

Interesting there is no adjustable mixer on the latest FS foil Speed 4 Lotus kite
Kamikuza said..
Check the manuals on the FSer homepage before posting such nonsense. Section 13, page 62...

Post a link, cannot find anything here flysurfer.com/project/speed4-8-0-10-0/
Was told this by a reliable source.

Kitepower Australia said..

The chrono is designed so that it does not need an adjustable mixer, remember Ozone have been making high performance foil wings for longer than any kitesurfing brand has been in business.
Kamikuza said..
The adjustable Mixer is designed to tune out the inevitable change in tune between the A, B, and C bridle lines, maintaining the profile of the airfoil. It would be amazing if it didn't need adjusting... lets just wait a bit before we get too excited there.

Are you seriously questioning the ability of Ozone designers to make a high performance kite, and at the same time keeping the wing light and simple? It can also be said the "the mixer" can be used by the customer to totally confuse themselves and let them think that their bagging old kite flys like a new one derr.
I'm no expert like you, but are these "mixers" found on other high performance wings, like paragliders, and aeroplanes, etc

Kitepower Australia said..

I've owned several FS kites, very complex designs (overly IMO), fly well in their mid wind range, don't rate the standard cloth kites in low winds or high winds and sold them for that reason as I used them mainly on land in buggies
Kamikuza said..
So both the Chrono and the Frenzy have a 3-level bridle and a "mixer" - same as FS - but FS is overly complex? Oooookay... I begin to see where this is all coming from...
Ah, buggies, huh - gee that explains a lot. Apples and strawberries this time...

Yeah buggies, they were what we power kite addicts used to get our kicks from before kitesurfing was invented and they still hold the speed record for kite traction.
Have a look inside your FS and then tell me its not overly complex. I can't get them repaired in Australia, blow a cell in one here and all you can do is send it back to Germany.

Kitepower Australia said..

Much prefer the simpler and lighter Ozone Frenzy design, now the Chrono is here I'll be very keen to give them a run on water and land
Kamikuza said..
Apples and oranges again. But I'm betting is you'll love the Chrono, it's so much better than the Frenzy and any other foil

Not sure, but I'll wait till I test it before making any comments about its performance or longevity, unlike you who wants to put it down based on looking pictures from the interwebs. There are plenty of reports circulating from skilled kiters that the Chrono is an awesome kite, you need to broaden the scope of websites you are spending your time on

INTHELOOP said.. Alvaro already got his Chronos and is double foiling with his Kitefoil Australia Foil and gave me first feedback this morning. He said that the 15m Chrono has same power like the 17m Edge.
I'd swear that Chrono is a rip off of the Zebra Z3 ... www.zebrakites.com/

Actually it's probably more a copy of one of these, just a bit less tuneable -

Yeh plumett agreed. Wouldn't buy one even if I was rich, but I'd love to burn some speed and feel that aspect driving you along...miss my edges, although got out on my 16m 2011 dyno last night, not the same aspect drive (as I got it to dabble in airstyle) but damn it was nice getting Towed down to the waters edge again (maybe I shouldn't have tried it for the first time in 16 to 18 knots.....bahahaha).

Proof will be when the kite gets here fellas...can't wait to hear the reports.

I've never canned a foil unless it was a particularly shoddy one and I actually cannot remember bothering, probably because lots of others would know too, I grew up on them, and refused to even use LEI's until about 2002/03
Foils for surfing waves suck and I'll stick with that, foils for kite racing have great potential and from what I hear from those that actually rip at kite racing, Ozone Chrono's also rock for kite racing, and foils on land and snow are superior for so many reasons particularly ease of use.

Lets face it. Foils are for people that fly foils anf have enormous amounts of patience. LEI kites are for the rest of us.

They are the people's kite for the masses. Their profile holds even when there are lulls in the wind and they are cheaper, and no tangles.

I flew my flysurfer doing some land kiting and was so frustrated with it collapsing and having to self land all the time to reset the kite, that I packed it up and pulled out my 12mt LEI. Still managed to land-kite without a problem. 4 lines are so much easier than all these fkn lines and bridles overlapping the wing tips, etc.

I am seriously thinking of selling all my foils. Had enough.

Agreed, they're not for everyone. Or every condition...

Perhaps you contact Kitepower and buy an Ozone Chrono! which is superior on land and snow for so many reasons!

Wait - the Chrono has 47 cells? It has the same "Speed system", the same bridle design as the FSer... so that makes it MORE complex than the Speed4!!!

Wait - "newly designed internal straps"? How can a brand new product have "newly designed" anything?

Wait - "no stretch"? How about shrink?

Wait - is that a zip I see? *shudder*

This just gets funnier and funnier!

Interesting flexi plastic things to hold the nose in shape. Good idea.

I really look forward to flying one of these beasts.

Nice pics there Steve! And the location looks sweet as. I am not into buggying but is it suitable for land boarding? It's just the sands look too soft for an MBS board. If not, what board would you recommend is ideal for it?

The Anna Bay end of the beach is wider and flatter, there is an easily accessible 2WD carpark near the Anna Bay Surf Club, and from there south there is a stretch of beach 5-6klms long at least that is harder and flatter, especially at low tide and a couple of hours either side. High tide, there is really only soft sand. The buggy in that clip weighs around 50kg and its tyres are massive, it will work on soft sand and we often go up into the dunes when the beach is too narrow at high tide. Can't wait to try the Chrono up there, we are planning a get together in May there is a Facebook group called Aussie Land Kiters, join it and keep up to date of when we plan get togethers.

Shame on you too... if you're going to show your ass in public, let the evidence stand.

Back to the Chrono! Flipped through the manual last night....

Bridles directly connected to the canopy... a slam is going to have interesting results. Hope you don't have to send it to France or the UK for repairs.
And enjoy pulling most of the bridle to bits to fix broken bridles! How complex is that!

Looking at videos, I'm not seeing any change in projected area when sheeting in or out... seems to me Ozone reinvented the Speed2 for the price of a Speed4 even down to the zipper... eww, corroded and stuck zippers - I hate 'em on my bags, I loathe them on my kites. Oh wait, I don't have kites with zippers!

If you want a the kind of performance that I'm betting you'll get in the narrow wind window, it's my opinion you'll get better value for money from Elf kites... or if you like fiddling, Pansh.

No, shame on the mods for deleting the bad behavior posts from our favorite vendor, and shame on any one who supports the cover-ups :-) excuse me while I fetch the tin foil.

The issue wasn't the ability of the Chrono, but general inaccuracies and misrepresentations... Two different topics there!

With enough education and experience, guesses are often pretty close to the mark... It'll be interesting to come back to this thread in a few months and see which ones have panned out. I don't mind being proving wrong and I won't even call you names when you point it out

plummet - I have brown a forearm, so sue me

Well stay tuned to InTheLoop, as Marvin has been trying her out and so far the Chrono boost and jumps are becoming the hot topic up there with the locals.

We obsessed kite racers have a few coming to Perth soon so we will give a bit of feed back compared to 2013 Lei Edges from from 19m to 9m on both kite race boards and foil boards - I have nothing to sell except my own time and money but LOVE to go fast
