Having just started my own journey with a 1977 Currawong, I can only second r13's comments and commend Andrew68's post to all those contemplating buying their first boat.
Thanks, Andrew68!
Thanks to Andy, here is a Currawong I did in about 2003.
So this for $2500.
Part way through but stable and secure
To this and did not count.
What a joy to see!

Mate, you are congratulated and admired as is boty for saving that iconic yacht.
Are you going to list her on the National Trust??
Cisco, just trying to demonstrate as was Andy, it is not you pay for the boat to start with but how much it costs to make one a reliable offshore boat.
With new engines and rigs so inexpensive for instance, you are often better to buy the one that is as close to launch condition (not modified or with "extras") pull it all apart and start from scratch.
Cisco as you well know, unless it is a Gardner, a 30 years old diesel in a 30 year diesel.
But thanks.

Congratulations Bundeenabouy that is a seriously nice boat. It looks like my short list of potential boats to buy just got one shorter.
Race you !!!
With which boat?
See I was going invite you on Defiance!
But I still will.

"Madmans Woodyard" appeared on my Facebook this morning so I'm thinking it's a timely reminder of this great value vessel.

Also on eBay there is an old Aries windvane self steering for sail. Needs a new oar but this is a good time to make a lift up system.

Ok this one is free and does require some work. I think the expression is "ideal project for the handyman, couple of weekends of work to get sailing". If you were looking for a vessel to convert to junk rig this would be ideal. It does look a lot worse than it really is. Re do the deck and cabin top then work your way down. Toss the engine.

Love how you have both ends of the spectrum covered.

Better post some pics of the Woodyard Reno up some day.
Looks pretty much the same as 1995.
The sails in the pics are from 1997 Coffs.

Just a bib thank you to all the positive comments on my purchase of SPINDRIFT.
I sailed her down from Pittwater today.
She really travelled well.
