No, but we will be out tomorrow with MBBC for the SAGS race. They are talking a big storm tomorrow afternoon.

We'll be back in by midday. The new owners have commitments in the afternoon.
Take care out there.
Hi Romona,
Would you mine explaining the reasons why the two issues may exist?
It's Ramona and I'm not sure what issues you are referring to.
Ramona, so sorry for not spelling your name correctly. I am not spelling as well as I used to.
I love your posts especially the great boats you find forsale.
I sailed on a Mumm with running backstays and know we had more work to do?
The depth of the boat was the other issue.
Are you saying they will have to compete with more boats in limited berths?

I was talking on a more personal level. 99% of my sailing is solo and most of my friends also sail solo so running backstays are problematic. Sailing on the South Coast where the breezes always seem to be stronger you could probably get away with dropping in the first reef early. I do think it reduces the value of secondhand boats that have running backstays. Even husband and wife teams are sometimes really solo sailing, I've seen a few useless husbands! This S&S36 has been on the market awhile and is good value but the backstay runners must be limiting it's appeal. yachthub.com/list/yachts-for-sale/used/sail-monohulls/sparkman-stephens-36/213951
In my homeport nearly all the yachts are on swing moorings and draft is not much of a problem. The problem is using the council run slipway. This slipway is only raised and lowered on weekdays and normal working hours so boats with drafts around 7 feet or so have to find the right tides to get up and down again. this limits the number of days they can stay up as well. There are not that many tides a year that are really suitable and the competition between boat owners with deep drafts has just been increased with the eminent arrival of two more of these vessels. One of the boats is a Farr 37 and is the non sailors first boat. Can't wait for that one!

That makes sense.
Thanks for explaining it.
Another argument for shoal drafts?
It might be personal but I did not mind the runners on the Adams 28.
In high winds with the genoa furled and the cutter stay in use with the storm sail bent, one had to use the runners. They - after working out the proper way of doing it - never fuzzled me when tacking or gybing. On a larger vessel it might be different, though.
The draught and tide is a consideration of every slip.
I was told to turn up at a particular time for haul out, and not to be late, at Woolwich Marina, and my draught was 1.47 meters only.
I think this fits the bill as "interesting". I've always liked the concept for cruising. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/dunalley/sail-boats/freedom-33-centreboard-cat-ketch-sail-boat/1204814175
Yes, certainly the last two entries are interesting.
While the trimaran needs a fair amount of care and a gallon of booze, the Freedom 33 is a unique vessel just with a beer in hand.
I sailed on two unstayed masted boats. One a Finn dinghy the other the 12m Radford, Sun Toy.
The cat rig - on that size yacht - is certainly unique in this country.
Yachthub have just listed a 1987 Petersen 32
Would anyone like to tell me what they think it is worth and why?
If someone can put the details up I would appreciate it.

I think that was the boat built for Syd Fisher's daughter. Could be wrong but it looks familiar.

A different site says it was built by Syd F
A Peterson 32 is not listed in SB Data under Doug Peterson designs
Has been for sale for a long time
that's good news
I might try a cheeky offer
Peterson SP 30 with a raked transom added by Syd Fischers' Coordinated Marine in Rozelle to make the Cord 32. I built one for a mate's father. "Hot Stuff" is now moored in Bedlam Bay. The deck moulding from memory came from the Traditional Yachts range when they went belly up. There was also a Cord 34.
Real class!

Sister ship Mark Twain on its way to Hobart in the race. Great boats
Does any know if this S&S 39 is the same design as Jon Sanders boat Perie Banou ?

Very similar to Perie Banou 2. Mark Twain might have a taller rig than the standard S&S39's
