Nice foiling! Just shows whatever can be done on a surfboard will eventually be done on a foil.
Can't wait to see the first rider at Nazare. Good way to get away from the wash avalanche.

It's been done.
Everaldo Pato Teixeira has been tearing up a few waves there before on a prototype Ghost Whisperer setup with a long 101cm mast.
Some big stuff. Not mega but still huge.

Doesn't take long nowadays for someone to be the first. Thanks for the viewing. Cheers.
Beryl in Costa Rica. He shows the very high lines a foil can use on a wave...
Nice Colas. Great riding Beryl!
We made this video to promote foiling safety, please watch!
Thank you to the Watermen and foiling pioneers who shared their knowledge in this video we recently shot to help keep people from hurting themselves or others when foiling. It's a long one but if you want to get into foiling, this should be mandatory. In this video: Leleo Kinimaka, Kalani Vierra, Sam Pa'e, Edmund Pestana, Todd Bradley, Reid Inouye, Rex Shinmon, Robert Stehlik
Thank you legends for your time and effort, this vid is gold and should be in the foil library. I miss paradise, maybe oneday
Nice video jezza007. Love the distance travelled. Nice take offs too. Nice riding Casso. Just wondering what length mast? Looks longer than 60cm.

It's an AXIS 75cm mast - perfect for most of the waves around Sydney.
You are afraid to use straps for foiling? Just train without the foil :-)

You've convinced me and . . . Zane.
Try doing this stuff without straps:

Re the last vid,
Why do we not hear more about the Starboard foils?
They've got a pretty competitive lineup of wings and parts, but I only stumbled upon them by chance.?!?

Hmm. Appreciate Zane's ability but, it looks ugly. The strapless guy looked way better.
It's already started guys down airs and rotations unstrapped plus paddling in on big waves.

You guys in Australia are the holdouts. Bring It!
Here is 62 year old Jeff Clark flying around with STRAPS and in big waves from as long as 18 months ago. Somehow Clay had been hiding this footage.
I got hit by one of these BIG waves a couple of months ago. It was 19 ft @ 19 seconds Middle Peak at Steamer Lane. I was run over by a 12 ft wall of whitewater. It blew out the bottom of my Tuttle box but I didn't realize it and just kept foiling for more than an hour.
I heard some crunching sounds that I dismissed as my leash banging around. Then I got to the beach and the board looked like this.
The GOOD that came from this was the realization that the TOP deck matters more than the bottom for holding things together with a Tuttle Box. I had installed this box and had 2 layers of 6 oz Glass & 2 Layers of 6 oz Carbon as a 1 Sq Foot CAP on top of the Tuttle under my back foot. It remained intact and never punched through the top of the board.
When flying in bigger waves I prefer the IWA GoFoil wing with KAI tail.
At first I didn't think the rig would fly with the small rear tailwing. It felt like the board had no pumpability and would constantly touchdown, heavy on the nose as shown here:
Here was an example of flying in bigger wind swell. 13 feet @ 11 seconds.
With the longer strap I am much more comfortable flying and pumping with the smaller tail wing.
This video was taken 2 months after the box failed. It had been fixed, with Gorilla Glue, basswood splints and relaminating the bottom. It's holding well.
On the new Smik 6'6 x 28.5 x 103L..with the GoFoil Iwa...had about dozen sessions so far on it..still learning and improving. Dismounts still pretty ugly..but just sharing the stoke.
