im after a longboard , I am deciding between the deep pro and the dogman
with the dogman 9,1 and the Jackson close 10
my question is size, in dogman I would say only the 9 as the other two are huge litres for 88kg
Thanks , yes nice board but will stick with deep , think the jc pro 10 is the go for me but at 88kg and 85 mostly I think the 124litres would be a good choice for advanced , I see the 111 litres but feel unless your less than 80kg don't bother.
so as far as which model I am keen on the jc pro, I feel the dogman is a bit to much fun board for my liking bloody nice board though
I have a jc pro and it is a really fun board. I went the custom route and my dims came in at 115L for my 94kgs i could have gone with the 111L quiet easily. You can surf it from anything from ankle to well over head.
I have another custom deep which is 99L so the jc pro longboard is my every day bord. If I dont ride it for a few weeks its a tad tippy but after 30m im fine on it again.
I recently got the 9'1 dog man. Awesome board, the best thing about it is you can ride the whole board: cruisey down the line flow surfing from the middle, out on the nose for nose time and step right back and carve a turn. Haven't quite nailed the fin set up yet, it came with JC signature fins 5"25 sides with 4"75 middle which I thought was a strange set up for a board like the dog man.
The only negative with the board is that it is heavy, 11kg which is the same weight as my ancient c. 2010 9"8 x 30' Starboard element ( the one with the ice-cream stripes, a classic!) But the Dogman is bomber and one I will keep for ever I imagine.
And another thing the handle is way too shallow which doesn't help if you have some long carries. Other than that the board is a cracker, I really like the versatility/ one board that can do everything.
I'm 72kg so board has heaps of stability for me, can take it out in all sorts of conditions ( which is pretty much all we get over summer)
I imagine the JC pros require better conditions to work/ not as forgiving as the dogman.
I think the 111L will be fine for your weight they are a very stable board cause of the length. What other boards are you riding and what conditions?
Where abouts are you located?
you could always talk to simon and go custom.
Its definatly a fun board in small stuff. I guess its up to how you feel with going smaller.
How comforable are you on the jp pro? Be ause the 10'1x28 is pretty similar in litres.
Yes it is but I would assume the 10,1 vs 8,10 the longboard would be far more stable than my short board even though litres are about the same
I think it will be fine for you at 111L the extra length will give you the stability. May take you a session or two to get use to it being a bit more narrow.
I was looking at 28 wide 124 litres I think it is not the 26 at 111 that would only be good in clean surf at 88kg
All good, the 28 is about the same as my 8,10 jp surf but the longboard will have slightly more stability so great
Hi Foam,Talk to the crew at watermanstore.nz or SUP CENTRE i'm sure they would be happy to demo you a 10"1, to get the size right.
I paddle the 10"1 x 26" and dont find the stability between the 26" 28" much different.
But the 26" does surf much better for my weight at 75kg.
Good luck and enjoy
Thanks, but not realy for me I'm only changing from 8,10 short board to the longboard purely due to changing locations and mostly only 1 to 2 ft so want performance still but a little bit more stability and wave catching as you know short sup are a catch 22 when in small surf
Just courious, but how would the jc pro go in 1ft surf as it's a performance board vs the dogman 9,1
If you are talking JCpro Surf (not long) then it is very different to the Dogmans. The JC pro surf is a quite performance orientated shape. Were as the Dogman is a bit more user friendly, flatter rocker and different tail.Shoot us an email at simon@dolphinsurf.com.au and we can discuss some options for you.Cheers
Hi, I'm talking about the two longboards jc 10,1 x28 and the dogman model
while im aware the jc model 10,1 is performance based but as my new home beach gets a lot of 1 ft days would this work still or as all performance boards does it need 2 ft min to get it into action
