I mean, will it perform in 1 ft ot just not logy enough for 1 ft vs dogman

Hi Foam, just my 2 cents worth.
At around 75kg and enjoy surfing anything. I went from a stringered bamboo deck Laird Surfer 10'x around 28" at 130 litres to custom Sunova 10'x25.5" at 88.5 litres with really low balsa parabolic rails and lots of rocker.
Laird......dry feet, super stable, heaps of glide. Great for foam hopping on the way out. Surf all day and not get my Gumby hat wet. Worked in ankle snappers to triple overhead and super fun. Nose rides and rail turns off the tail.

Sunova wet feet, much slower to paddle, tricky to spin quickly for waves due to thin tail, my Gumby hat gets wet quite often. Can get counterflex in bigger heavy stuff but the performance far outweighs the drawbacks. The ten foot length means very stable nose to tail. Just rail to rail tippy which you get used to fast.
I find most Sups bounce and sit high in the water ( boaty) and flex not desirable. The Sunova just fits in so many more parts of the wave and gives very positive responsiveness in micro conditions and cuts like a knife in the bigger stuff.

Would not not go back to the cruise ship. Well,......until my body gives in.
Hope feedback helps.

Its definatly a fun board in small stuff. I guess its up to how you feel with going smaller.
How comforable are you on the jp pro? Be ause the 10'1x28 is pretty similar in litres.

Clarification there Jason, I'm on a jp surf 8,10 126 litres I'm now looking at as mentioned longboard style performance
I would think the deep jc pro 10,1x28 was more stable regardless as it much longer

Yeah it will be more stable.
The jc longboard works well in 1ft i often go out with my wife who wont surf anything over 2ft so quiet often im using it on 1ft stuff.
When it is small i chuck in a 10inch fcs2 fin and just cruise.

Thanks Jason, sounds like a good purchase, I did have thoughts that as both the 10,1x28 was 124 litres I think and the jp surf is 126 that both were similar in stability and float but as you mentioned the deep will be for stable die to shape and length, not sure about added float though but as long as it's no worse than the jp I'm safe , I'm happy at 126 on the jp surf but it's work sometimes

what weight range are you ?

Funnsurfing ...your board sound interesting. do you have photo?

it seems as we get bit more comfortable on our long boards you almost need to go custom to get width below 28 and volume around 100

i have 9 laird surfer which is really nice - but i am 78kgs and its volume is 120 litres - so i am thinking of custom say 9 6, less than 28 wide , and maybe 100/105 volume

Some quality customs around. All can take a bit of time. Deep, Surefire, Sunova among others all making some custom gems.
Size and volumes you mention look good.

Below is the beautiful fresh Custom showing plenty of rocker.

Fresh wax job on deck.

Early morning on the nose

Forehand dig.

Gets up there and responds better than any Sup I have ridden.
Style, custom Slog and Slong. All go great.
