OK, so have made my mind up to go for the C-drive fins in my 9'5 Speeed. I would be interested to hear what others think would be the best size to go for my 105kg body weight and to be used in shoulder to head high waves?

I think the confusion regarding smaller trailers comes from the Non Troy approved fins from Pacific

The medium Cdrives should work well with an 9'5" Speeed. The channels on the Speeed will add some hold and drive. There is not a big difference in surface area between the large and medium Cdrive fins (I have all three sets and when my wife looked at them she thought I was nuts because they all looked the same!). So even if you went for the large set you wouldn't be too far off. I wouldn't worry too much choosing between the medium and large. Either would be great. Have fun. These really are a special fin that work great with SUPs.

I haven't been supping for a while now, back surfing again and back seems OK (touch wood), but I saw video recently of me riding my 8'5 x 29" 2013 carbon Starby (106L) in the Ments last year with c-drives and for that board I use XL fronts and tail/centre. But what I have done is get a local bloke (with a hand in a well-known fin company) to cut away the base which sits in the box and reset the pin so that the tail fin can be positioned much further back (I've got two fins done - one about 1" cut and the other 1 3/4"). I've found this dramatically increases the hold and drive, without much difference in looseness. It's required a slight shaving off of the bottom edge of the rear of the fin base to get it out of the box again, but only 1-2mm. It still makes a bit of a gap which is exacerbated by the tail rocker. I've found the turbulence from the gap is well and truly offset by the increased control from the more rear-ward position of the fin.
I also use c-drives in some of my shortboards and they're still fantastic.

Speeed was noticeably looser and could snap tighter turns with the small C Drives.
I will try the small trailer soon.
I visited this thread again yesterday, and it got me thinking on my way home after my last day on shift. It's a long drive.
I knew the wind was swinging around, and would push up a few little beachies. Not much, but just enough.
Should I dust off the C Drives and try them on the hipster twin longy?

I'd forgotten how squirty and how much fun these bad boys were.

Sticking a regular FCS c-drive into a longboard adapter gets you a little more overhang than the center fin version, just under an inch for my Size L.
BTW.... there is a massive difference between using them in Quad VS Thruster set up. I use Quad on mine. I tried the thruster set up today. Like I had a brick under the Board.

To be honest, 99% of prone surfers are very conservative and know nothing about fins, they just choose on the color or what the pros ride.
A C-Drive model was even in the official FCS line at the time...

Yes , re Hipster, I was running Cdrive XL sides with Grom trailer on Fat waves at Torro Torro earlier in the week. Got in earlier, Hold well on the nose.
Up at Java, Pulau merah ,swapped same combo over to 9'5 surf shape. Works well on cleaner part of tide. When lumpy riptide comes through take off zone , swapping Grom to Zigs for looser rear in the chop. That's works for me, ??might have to loan Zigs in adapter to Brenno for a couple months to get his professional feedback ??
