Has anybody had a chance to swap out the "Driver" fins that come with the Shroom (which are NOT the same as the stock fins on the other Sunova SUPs), and replace them with C-Drives? If so, how do they compare?

How do you find them in the hipster?
Good fun.
Easier to turn on to a wave, quick to find the next section and easy to push the tail out if you feel like it.
I also found when catching a smaller wave and going straight to the nose for more speed, the tail would follow without much effort.

The sizing on the quad trailers seems really big to me.

ive currently got a Jimmy lewis supertech 8'3 that I'm keen to explore with c drives. What sizes and configurations would you recommend? I'm 70kg.
Looks like my C twins have arrived in Sydney in about 3 days.. probably take another 5 to get to QLD.
Hopefully get them just before my trip to rainbow.

i have a "similar" board to your super tech. It is an 8'7" Sunova Creek. The small Cdrives in front with a tiny jdrive trailer works very well for me at 70 kg. I have medium Cdrives also and there is not much difference in size with the Smalls. Personally I prefer the Cdrives to my Quoba fins especially in smaller waves below shoulder height. They seem to be just a bit faster to paddle into waves.

Yes, C-Drives have lots of grips at low speeds, thus provide a lot of help to your paddling if you do not yet master the row effect on your board.
Typically, C-Drives can help the transition to shorter boards.
Thanks guys, I have no trouble getting in to waves and often surf quite heavy and hollow stuff between 1-2x overhead.

i like my supertech but hoping to loosen it up and get tighter turns.
Ive got the medium am2 techflex fins in at the mo
C-Drive provide lots of grip at low speed, which can be handy on hairy take offs and angling early on fast waves where you do not have time to commit to a proper bottom turn. But they shed extra pressure so you do not "foil" (have the fin try to turn over the board) at high speed like other solutions to have grip at low speed like large fins or keels. And they are tolerant to mistakes, if you do not set up properly the rail in turns they can prevent a spinout. You can push super hard on your first bottom turn for maximum squirt (drive) without spinning out, even if you do not have yet built your full speed.
For the sizing, you can use the same scale as other fins: use medium C-Drives if you use medium AMs.
Quobba on the other hand are "just" better fins: they provide less drag and more hold. But you have to adapt your trajectories to take advantage of the added speed, for instance you can get higher in top turns without getting stuck, take a higher line in steep walls that was possible with normal fins because you can actually transform the added push into a faster speed, etc...
So I guess it could be summarized as: are you thinking:
- "I would like to push harder in my turns but I am afraid to spin out" -> C-Drive
- "I would like a faster board to complete my turns, throw spray and make fast sections" -> Quobba
As a personal note, I was hooked on C-Drives while my boards had FCS1 boxes. But with FCSII, the advantages vs AMs were not big enough to offset the convenience of the FCSII tool-less system - and I have no issue with the row effect anymore -, so I never used C-Drives anymore since my boards went FCSII. But with the Quobba, no question, they are so worth it...
