Whoa! Love it! Any more refinement & it will turn into my Soul Lol!
Hey STC. I am after a more performance board than my Soul. Was looking at the Acid & Flow. But wanted between the both. Maybe this is the one!
If so. I want one exactly the same colours. Love it.
8ft at 96litres for me. Perfect. Now the problem part saving. Sheees! Lol!

I like it!
Good job Rick. The 8'10 seems like good option for an intermediate that wants a bit less width & volume than the Flow. Like me..

Yes, it is an official model at all Sunova Shops.
The "Creek" will come with color, so it will cost a few dollars more but I am not sure what that will be on Ozzy $$$$.
You can order it in the standard Sunova balsa beauty as well.

Super stoked to see and hear about your smaller size!
I am really interested in your feedback, because I will never get to surf one that small

Thanks Creek. I was looking for it in the line up on the Sunova page.
I reckon they will probably place in between the Flow and the Speeed

Once again another excellent post , STC.
I'm 78kg, moderate ability. Ive been on an 8'10'' flow for 6 months, I probably should have bought an 8'7" or 8'4" flow and was toying with doubling up. (I have an 8' vanguard style only for when its small and clean). Now this is out!

i guess the main qn. is : What's its stability like cf. same size flow?

Also, any idiosynchasies (the board, not you)

Thanks,
AW

Yes... I have a LOT of idiosyncrasies... I am, after all, a SUPster!
but the "Creek" has none that I have found yet.... it is an amazingly easy and uncomplicated board to surf.

One thing that I am very pleased with:
On almost all of my boards, my vids show my back foot moving from rail to rail, through turns.

I modified my "Kook Hat Cam" to look straight down at my feet and what I sawsurprisedme:
My back foot stays "dead center" and just forward of sidebites....rarelymoving from rail to rail.
Bottom turn or cutback.... my foot stays pretty much in the same place.
It was also interesting to see that I am not getting all the way back to the stomp pad much at all.... so not a board that requires you to get on the tail to turn effectively.
To me that says that the performance rocker and Speeed tail work perfectly together.

I'll add pics from different turns, and my foot position is remarkably similar in all.... in the last 2 are shots showing some slight move to the rail.... but not necessary most of the time.
Lots of pics.... to show how remarkably consistent foot placement is.

I move around the board a lot while trimming, noseriding and stuff, but in most turns, I end up in the exact same place.

I agree the 8'10 Flow is a lot of board for you..... that is the size I ride at 106 kg.

Without having an 8'10 Creek to compare to my 8'10 Flow....
I will say that a good size "Creek" for you to consider is:
8'7 x 29 7/16 @ 115 liters
This puts it right between the 8'7 and 8'4 Flow.
I normally ride 8'10s in the summer, but I am totally thrilled with how snappy the 9'4 Creek is.

If we ever get performance waves again, I'll do a head to head with the 8'10 Flow.

The Creek seems to have more tail and nose kick than the flow but a more refined outline.
It would be interesting to compare the paddle speed and ease of catching waves with the Flow.
The more I look at this board, the more it looks like a Flow that's had a love child with the Speeed

Well STC I am (again) impressed by your reply.
I've just shown it to an (embarrassing) acquaintance - non surfer - and she is seriously considering offering to marry you . She is desperate.

Very informative.Thankyou. I'm sure that I will free up the $$$$.

PS. If you start getting correspondence from "CREEPY MAD" - that's my friend
PPS.She tried to get me to change it to "CRAZY MAD". Nuh. Creepy works

STC, three questions:
1) why the two leash pegs?
2) have you tried it in 2ft onshore mush yet?
3) why the "mast track" for windsurf rig?

Cheers, loving the board.

I took aspects of other Sunovas, but nothing from the Flow.
The Creek outline came from Skate, but totally changes at the hips by morphing into a Speeed tail, from there all aspects of the Creek are totally different from the Skate.

The Creek has a very different tail rocker than the Flow... not just more lift, but the tail rocker starts further forward.

Taking the 8'10s as comparison: The Flow is nearly an inch wider and a tad thicker, with 6 liters more volume. The hips of the Flow are wider and the Creek has the "bump down" hips of the Speeed Plus the channels

I'd give a definite paddling advantage to the Creek, which is narrower overall and the more refined rail line is easy to paddle straight.

I think the Flow will always hold a slight stability advantage size for size.

I designed the Creek to have definite performance advantages for big guys, in the bigger sizes.
It surfs amazingly smaller than it's size. Bert Burger melded all these parts together perfectly.... the performance rocker married to the Speeed tail is key IMO His rail foil seems perfect as well.

I am very interested to see what the folks have to say with the smaller size Creeks. I know there is a 7'11 out there, that is probably getting wet soon.

I had gotten my 8'10 Flow over the winter and could only use it on clean days because of full winter wetsuits (5 mil)
Once May hit and I could use it all the time, it replaced the 9'4 Acid as my favorite board, mainly because it was more stable and 6" shorter, so a bit snappier.

The Creek has impressed me with how snappy it is for it's size (which was designed for full New England winter gear)
Since the Creek arrived, I have had 3 super challenging 4-5' days in 30 mph winds (I could not ride the Flow) and the rest have been pretty small, so no opportunity to go head to head with the Flow.

All I can say so far is, I love having a board that is so easy to use and full out rips.
I have studied my 8'10 Flow vids vs my 9'4 Creek vids and have to give a slight edge to the Flow for quicker snaps, but in a fair fight with an 8'10 Creek would be interesting for sure.

In juice, I would give the edge to the Creek, because I have never been let down by the Speeed tail.... and as I said in the previous reply, I designed the Creek to size UP really well for big guys. My whole goal was a high performance board that worked well in winter juice.

I am very interested to hear what others think of the Creek, in all sizes, once they start getting them on the water.

Everything I have experienced on this board has excited me..... so maybe I am ready for "Creepy Mad"

1) Gnarly winter surf, heavy shorebreak, lots of Great Whites all summer, so I don't want to be swimming because of a broken leash string

2) About 5 sessions in small waves so far..... all of the pics above are in 2' or less. I am making a vid of some of the small stuff now. Considering the performance rocker, I have been satisfied with it in small waves. In the really gutless small days, I would prefer my Skate.

3) Because Sunova puts them in all Sups over a certain length... why not, it's always there if you want to rig up.

Cheers STC.

Just curious that's all.

I've a Speeed 8'10 that I love, I use it in all sorts of conditions but here we get a lot of waist high onshore slop and it just rips it all up. I've also got an 8'7 Flow, again very capable in my onshore days, but this boards used in bigger cleaner days mainly. I've also got an 8'3 Shroom on test, but so far no onshore slop days have arrived yet, so itching to get that out.

So you can see my thought pattern with your Creeek in the mix.

Thanks again for your input, vids and words. Plenty of us read and absorb your insights.

Howdy,

i love the look of this board and the shape. What size would you suggest, for 88-92 kg intermediate sup'r, keen surfer and windsurfer, to be able to use this as a light wind sup, would be a bonus ?

I have never put a sail on it, but if you want a light wind board, I assume you'd want in an easy uphaul?
It seems like you'd need some reasonable float.... so the 8'10 might be the call
for strictly surfing I'd say either the 8'7 or 8'10
I am comfortable recommending the 8'10, because I am so happy with the performance of my floaty "winter board"

It's got a good amount of "stability tools" built in, but I have only ridden my 9'4...
I'd need to try an 8'10 to test my lower limits to see how the stability holds up for me. (108 kg today)

Like all performance Sunova's, the rail foil keeps you lower in the water, but the secondary stability is excellent.
Last week I rode an 8'7 Flow and I did ok, but it was considerable work, whereas the 8'10 Flow is easy for me.
The numbers put the 8'10 Creek right between those two Flow's... and I think that will probably be correct.

Quick question for all, would like to purchase the Speedster but what site online? of course looking for the best price (free shipping?) to Maryland. Primary surf spot is the sucking lined up beach breaks of Cape Hatteras, NC. Also I'd like to take the time to give a quick shout out to STC! Thx for all of your input in the Sunova templet/design/form factors and wave riding prowless. Cheers!

Hi Deep

Check with Jim at Extreme Windsurfing on the east coast of USA. I have purchased two Sunova boards through him and he is knowledgable and a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend him. There is a discount if you are a member of the US paddle forum Surf Zone.

Cheers
