Thanks Guys! Appreciate the support! The smiles coming back
Yep dislocated shoulder was exactly 2 years ago at Pambula. I was indestructible until then. A few drama's since. Guess its a message to tone it back a bit.
When I think how hard and fast we ride our bikes around here and many grinders we have pulled into over the years it is hard to fathom how much carnage just surfing a SUP can wreak!
TeaTree, is was the 9" DC Dolphin fin that somehow got swapped into our PSH demo. It works well as a single but not needed in the tri setup that I had.
I reckon I may have come off better off with the shorter 7.5" fin with a flexier tip.
Who knows. **** happens!

The wonders of modern medicine! All stitched up ready to hobble!

AA, since you've got ya feet up for a while should we expect some threads ?
You can even pop into the Greenroom and have a chat. We talk off subject all the time. Perhaps we could discuss Manly's semi finals campaign.

Hey Andrew,

They did a remarkable job putting you back together. Man I've seen some horrendous injuries from SUP in such a short space of time

It must be just throbbing when you stand up I'd imagine.

Mend quick and take it easy.

Just visited AA in hospital. Looks good for a man with a gash that big. He actually posted the best photo. There are a couple more that have the gash looking worse.

I'll be around to pick up the 14 footer you won't be needing AA.

Lacey mentioned it was 9" DC Dolphin fin. He could tell from the wound and entry.
Fark he knows his fins.

that is why i've just bought this 9" flexible and soft edged fin to experiment with. i've only tried it in tiny waves once but they were similar to the ones when the gash happened, and the board sizes were similar. the fin seemed to work fine and as soon as this crap adelaide change passes through i'll be testing it a lot more
pete

My 8 year old daughter is a very good surfer at her age-I make her use those fins on her boards. Work a treat-nose guards too.

Sh1t Andrew, that's really heavy. Time heals all wounds and all that. Hope it heals yours really quickly. Look after yourself, give it that time to heal, don't go too hard too soon.

Legend crew! Thanks for all your support and well wishes!

Pretty sure this was the culprit. The point on the end is very sharp for plastic.

The centre fin was quite blunt and the entry cut was so neat we figure this was what caused such a massive tear. Lesson learnt

Managed a few light ales on Saturday night and was still standing at the end.

Cheers all!

Hi Andrew,I also wish you a speedy and full recovery...I can't help wondering though did the doctor or the nurse give you any strange looks when you started taking photos?I'm sure most people with wounds like that would either be screaming or unconcious or at least lying very very still.

Thanks mate! Classic was they were ALL taking photo's! Doctors, Nurses they all took pics.
I guess it saves the specialists coming down! I just handed them my phone.

They texted me this one. Lying onthe Op table, out to the world just before they stitched me up.

I am one lucky guy! No permanent damage. It will all mend.

It is heavy for sure Dan and hopefully it makes us all think twice before we hit the water again. Get the sand paper out and check the back of your fins.
I couldn't believe it when i actually had the culprit in my hand - ridiculously sharp and totally unnecessary.
PS: Still not as heavy as your smash up mate
