Hull Ripper vid.

For now those are the sizes we will be working with. One of the cool things with this design is that they paddle 6"-12" longer, but surf 6"-12" shorter, than flat bottom SUB's. For example I am currently riding a 9'11 Hull Ripper that paddles as fast, if not faster with more glide than my 10'6 wood veneer gun, however it surfs shorter than my old 9'3 molded ripper. Blane is riding these in the 9'1 range, Austin a 9'3 and Tiff is riding a 9'2. Most of the HR's under the 8'11 range have been for the smaller guys like Riggs and Noah. So the size range for the Hull Rippers is exactly the same as we are all riding

Good question and the answer is no, they will not replace the wood veneer progressive series, they will however ( as you mentioned) be a complement to the existing line. It is simply a matter of offering everyone a greater selection and choice for the type of surfing they prefer in the type of waves they surf.

The Hull Ripper is designed to be surfed off the tail and is capable of more shortboard style ripping. However, even here in Hawaii, the molded Boardworks and progressive series still have LOTS of fans. As you may have seen from our photos this winter a guy like Kala Alexander loves his 10'6 ripper gun at Sunset and the Bay. Kekoa Uemura, a pro longboarder, loves his 9'0 round nose in all conditions and Ikiaka Kalama trusts only his 9'3 ripper from boardworks at Pipeline. So its just a matter of offering choice and what you want out of a board. Just like the difference between the two board you are considering. The 10' WAA is a really fun board that will offer you more glide and nose riding capability, whereas the 9'11 will offer slightly less glide, but is more of a progressive ripper design. You cant wrong with either shape, just comes down again to what you want out of a board.

The Hull Rippers will compliment the existing range.
All the most popular Rippers (8', 8'6, 8'9) and Wide Rippers (9'2, 9'11, 106) will continue for 2011/12, as will all the Boardworks series like the 10'WAA, 10'6WAA etc.

The Hull Rippers initially will compliment the range if you are looking for aboard between 9' and 9'6. There is no Hull Ripper equivalent of the 9'11WR or bigger.

and what about stability compared to traditional shape?
