Since we arrived on Saturday, it has been progressively getting better. 6/10, 7/10 and yesterday 8/10. I reckon today and the next couple are going to be all time. Strap on your seat belts, its going to be a wild ride

Marcus, how did the new board go

New board is biiiiig! Haha. Still getting used to it. Wish I could make it go as fast as you do! Even if I'm slow I'm having a bloody good time out there:) Love this place.

i had a 17'4 bullet and it took a bit to get it going good. try standing back as much as you can on the runners. for some reason the further back you can stand the better they go. i know your a good paddler but the bullets are a little different that way. worth trying

Maliko is about the best training ground you can get, when you've got the time over there to do that run every day (sometimes 2 or 3 times a day) you will get it dialled in and even if you feel slow now, you'll probably notice yourself getting faster over a couple of weeks (just wont necessarily notice it everyday).

Other than to relax, the best tip anyone gave me about downwinding at Mailko (and anywhere else as well) is to learn when NOT to paddle. I had done a reasonable amount of 'downwind' paddling here, and a stack of races, before heading over, but the biggest and fastest improvement I could make to my speed over there was all to do with timing. Let the ocean teach you!

I’ve ironed-out all the bugs on my Bullet
The EVA pad was as slippery as F##k that kept making me slip of when I was on a runner, so I got my hands on a steel brush and went to town on the EVA pad now the EVA grip is GOLD.
Plus the bullet keeped on pulling to the left and throwing me off even though the rudder and fin went back to centre so I tweaked the rudder and now it’s working like a gem.
Maliko was just EPIC today the 1:00pm run was ALL TIME the best I’ve had it in the ten days I’ve been here from the Gulch to the Harbour some very long Glides, with big clean ocean swells and 30+ knots of wind (and didn’t have one fall STOKED). I was in surf stance just about the hole way It was effortless. Ridge Lenny yells out to me when we was on the same runner “did you see the shark I nearly ran it over” Maliko is a caf’e for Tigers I nearly ran over a big 8fter last year I s##t

I’m giving Maliko a 12 out of 10 today

I sailed out to see some of you downwinders today from Kanaha, some big swells out where you are at! Long way off shore ;)

(Didn't see any tiger sharks)
