Big thanks to Trev and the rest of the Saltwater Festival team for organising such a great, fun event. I'll definately be marking this one on the calendar for next year.
The conditions for Saturday's downwinder were the best i've had in a race, and exactly what you hope for on race day. Awesome runners along most of the course and a great atmosphere at the finish - you couldn't ask for more.
Today's surf 'sprint' races were challenging but heaps of fun was had by all, with everyone swapping craft (SUP, paddleboard, ski and swim) and most of us taking a few floggings in the process - but everyone enjoyed it and finished with a smile on their faces. Highlight of the day was definately at the end of the final surf race seeing Macca pull into a barrel on his 14ft race board in overhead waves with everyone on the beach watching - and who says you can't surf a 14 footer?
Sorry DJ, I didn't get any photos, but hopefully someone who did can share.
I got plenty of video long C and Short C, plus some interesting footage of Jamie M showing why he's the World Champ Paddle Boarder. Also some great footy at the Seaway exit ...

Thanks Trev, Davina and all the team, it was a sensational day on Sat. Hopefully everyone now understands why we love downwinding down here on the Tweed Coast. The run home from Caba to Salt was on fire and getting in was, if nothing else, very entertaining for everyone on the beach.
Teatree, really sorry you creased your board mate, that was a shame. To be honest though, I am surprised there weren't a few more like you - although is it true, that one of the jet skis caught fire off Brunswick??? And I also heard that one of the OC1 guys snapped their outrigger coming in.
Just one complaint - can we get rid of the run at the end next year? That bit almost made me spew.
Thanks again to all concerned.
yeah he caught many like that Rob. As well as the full Saltwater feature video I'll put all the SUP and Paddleboard footage on a separate video.
Was that Dale Chapman i shot with his tongue hanging out as he crossed the line ??? hehehe.

Well done to everyone, especially the 2 ladies who entered the 30km solo race:
Allison Fullagar 03:38:09
Elise Comerford 04:12:45
Big effort from you both. Elise did the 3 day 100km river paddle with Dale Chapman and Andy Davies only a few weeks ago so it looks like she is a sucker for punishment. Inspirational stuff.
A huge effort was put in by Billy as well, who only finished 3 minutes behind the crack Woogy+Jacko team.
Phil Gregory smashed the 3 hour mark that he was aiming for - so good effort by him too.
