It's on again and it's only a couple of week away now.. March 24 and 25.
Last year it was huge and probably the best SupVic event of the year.
More info on the SupVic site.. here.. www.supvic.com/
This one will be even bigger than last year with RPS, SHQ, The Zu, Zack's surf shop and Core boardsports all offering prizes and demo boards.
The emphasis will be for a fun and famaly weekend with some flat water races.. BOP style races.. and surf competion (depending on the conditions).
Here's some pictures from last year..

There is a SupVic house but I'm sure most will want to arrange their own accommodation.
See you there and looking forward to some beautiful Autumn weather and lots of fun.

Just because summer has ended doesn't mean the fun has to stop! SUP Vic is again running our famous surf weekend at Inverloch. Those who went to last year's event know what a great time was had by all. Hopefully we can get a repeat of the conditions that allowed everyone from beginners to experienced surfers to all have a blast. This is a family-friendly event, so bring the nippers and grommets along.
When: Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th March 2012.
Where: Inverloch, which is located on the Bass Highway 140 kilometres southeast of Melbourne, at the mouth of Anderson Inlet (see the maps below).
Event: Surfing competition and technical (BOP style) race - open to SUP Vic and Bass SUP members.
Cost: $10 for the weekend's activities.
The surfing is planned to start at 8:00am on Saturday morning, so either make it an early start that day or, like many, come down on the Friday night as well. We will probably do as we did last year, adopting a relaxed approach to the "competition" by having anonymous judges keep an eye on the performances of all during free surfing over the weekend to determine who will score some of the many prizes on offer. We will have three Surfing Australia-qualified judges at the event, so should we decide to get all serious and run some heats for the more experienced surfers then that is all taken care of as well.
But the main aim of the weekend is to have fun and ensure maximum participation by all, regardless of your level of experience in the surf. So if you have never surfed before, or are just taking your first steps in becoming the next Kelly Slater, this event is for you. Some of the more experienced surfers will be available to provide some guidance for those who want some coaching.
We are pleased to announce that SHQ Boardsports, RPS The Board Store, The Zu Boardsports, Zak Surfboards and Core Boardsports are all contributing to the prize pool, so there will be tons of prizes to give away and they will also be bringing lots of demo boards down. So here is your chance to test boards in the surf.
In addition to the surfing, we will be running a technical race - for 12'6" boards - on Saturday afternoon. This race will involve a course that will take competitors out and back through the surf. This could be your last chance to impress with a good result and maybe snap up a wildcard place for the Surfing Victoria state team to go to nationals.
On Saturday night we will be holding a BBQ at the SUP Vic house, and all are encouraged to attend. Carlton United, sponsor of Surfing Victoria and Surfing Australia, has provided some VB and their new beer, Victoria Pale Lager, which will help to wash down the salt after a big day in the water.
The event will be based at the surf beach on Surf Parade near Ozone Street, which is also near the entrance to Anderson's Inlet. The SUP Vic house will be at 88 Surf Parade.
Yep, this is one weekend that Sup Vic members, family and friends will not want to miss!
RPS The Board Store is a confirmed sponsor and proud supporter of Sup Vic.

heh sponsors and demo board providers, any boards that can be in the 8ft- 9ft range would be greatly appreciated, more the merrier
sorry to be only a little bit fussy, look forward to trying the starboards Warwick and hopefully there is 3-4 ft and a light offshore, ok
Hey MJ your'e absolutely right!! Every time I've asked for an 8'10" to Demo- All Wave or Widepoint, I've been told that people are steering away from shorter boards so they don't have any Demo boards. Hopefully I'll be driving by then and come down with Matt to chaeck out some of those smaller, lighter boards that I'm now in a position to purchase!!!
. See you then.
*General question: is SHQ still a PSH dealer? I'd love to Demo the 9'11" Hull ripper and the 9'6" Wide Hull Ripper. I checked the site and they were only advertising the Hull Paddlers?? Is there a PSH dealer in Victoria anymore?
Larry, Curly and Mo are in.
Any demo boards for the big (fat) boys? Wooz? Luke? Paul?
else I'm going to be kooking it up on my 12 footer all weekend...
Stu,
I can see at least three boards on Warwick's list that should do the trick for you.
Luke at SHQ has told me that they will be bringing down plenty of their demo fleet, so I am sure there will a smorgasbord on offer for all.
Ok Stu & Tim,
I will also pack the Starboard Whopper [10'0" x 33"], Naish 10'10" x 32" and the Fanatic All Wave 9'6".
On one condition....everyone has to carry boards to and from the beach.
My trailer is now officially stacked and packed!
As a first timer and would love to attend, does anyone have any ideas on accomodation where most people stay and is any membership req to attend and enter any comps.
Thanks Mark
Thanks PT I'll sign up with sup vic and check out the caravan park. Looking forward to a great weekend.
Thanks Mark
Love to come down and check things out. Can you Join Bass Sup or Sup Vic on the day??
Any Chance of a Hobie CP Torque 9 6 Sponsor for a Demo?? Looking to upgrade from a 11 6 I use now.
Pretty Please!!
I finally get a weekend off and Kristi tells me that we are taking Lauchie aka Frothing SUPer Grom with us on this road trip, it was so much easier before boyfriends.
Warick I'm looking forward to a session on that allwave again, if I can snaffle it.

Looks like the surf will be pumpin'
Hopefully the wind and foul weather they have forecast moves through quicker than they think.
Check out the swell charts for "nearby" Phillip Island! I'm not too familiar with that neck of the woods - down at Inverloch. Are there some protected corners? The Points in Western Port Bay should be good too...
www.swellnet.com.au/reports/phillip-island/daily
Looks like we will have pull out the guns! 4-5 m swell brewing for Friday into Saturday. A few good wipeouts will be had by all, best way to clean your sinuses. The beaches will definitely not handle it, it can barely handle a 4 foot swell, will have to search for a good reef or point, but not many options on a south west wind.
Leon.
Hey Leon, Brendan is looking at our options for big swell and westerly wind flow. Matt may be right - it is possible that we might get some epic waves on Sunday.
But remember, it is still only Monday and this is Vicco - so who knows what is in store for us?
With the inlet and river there are plenty of options to be on the water both days...and we are having a BOP-style race too, don't forget.
I don't know about others, but I'm hanging out to try a number of the many demo boards we will have available to us - thanks again to the Vic retailers (and WOW) who are supporting this and other SUP Vic events.
Some big waves, some flat water, heaps of demos and good company, all good for a fun weekend!
Eagles nest and Shack bay possible options for a surf !
Cheers,
Leon.
