Yes, the glorious feeling of freedom. To be able to just go into the sea with my board. Pure joy. The last deconfinement, as it is called here was easy. Being locked up at home leaves me soft and weak. It was the end of spring, warm and small surf. This time it was big and cold. But so nice.
Shouldn't have worn a wetsuit.....cooked when the sun rose......but a quiet early morning paddle at Port Tarakohe (Golden Bay)
Ruby Bay this morning between Motueka and Nelson......the locals pretty happy with these surf conditions.....pretty much dead flat most of the time
A quick paddle with number 3 son at the local ! Nice conditions but santa needs to deliver summer to this neck of the woods ??
Great paddle yesterday. Bit of swell left from the blow the day before so got a couple of waves. There was about 10 guys waiting for waves. I turned up and nailed 2 little waves ( rare for me) and thought that will do and carried on.
Buy the time I went out around the island and came back the swell had pretty much died. There were 2 or 3 guys left.
Its winter so not many boats out any more which is good.
Yesterday morning of torrential rain broke to an humid and hot windless afternoon.
Paddle and swim, somewhat spoiled by ****wit fishermen barricading the shore.
Gave up as more people discovered it had stopped raining and was hot and windless.
Today 20 knot southerlies, intermittant rain and 16 degrees kept things quiet on the beach.
Western port bay dawn patrol and I have run out of Vimeo loading space for the week so only one short vid.
Great paddle around the islands again. I know I keep posting similar pics but its the paddle I do and its beautiful. Winter so hardly anyone out there. If you zoom in on the first pic you can see the snow capped mountains. Passed a group of kayaks and that was about it.
1st session: an Oahu east side spot several hundred yards from shore. Overcast with a bit of chill.
A bunch of waves to get warmed up.
2nd session: just enough gas in the tank to try another spot around the corner.
Getting in the ocean makes it all good again...
when you've got on shore winds all week ,and its bloody 30 degrees ...ya just gotta go out and make the most of it
Dave Sandan - sick.

What he said ^^^^^^
Good stuff boys, Yewwwwww!
me?
I just surfed with about a hundred million sharks today. (Florida)
No, I exaggerate... I only saw about 50
But I kept falling on them, so I figured it was getting kind of stupid.
I was the only one out.... I wonder why?
I always see sharks at this break, but they usually never even notice me... and I like watching them.
But today a few of the bigger ones were dogging me.
All about 6 ft, so not a big deal.... but there were so many inside the whitewater, I figured a mistake could happen, so went to lunch.
Video at 11
Here's some screen grabs from the video I am working on.
geez ....creek ....your one crazy Dude ...I reckon that probably is too many 50 ....and a lunch break is better than being lunch
hows the new casey flow ? ...i might get mine in 2 weeks ...
I had a great day at Lorne recently, was a very gusty off shore, making it a bit tricky, but was fun!
Tiny lull in wind and surf conditions at Uawa (tolaga bay) this morning.....I was "Out There"....paddled longline out two kays....used winch to pull it back in. With the trusty old Bic Wing of course
