Oh yeah.... Really enjoying it Tardy!
It has great glide into waves and event though it doesn't have an aggressive nose rocker, the overall rocker and tail kick lets it slip into a steeper face with ease. The very thin rails allow for positive and responsive turns and I cant wait for a bit of more solid swell to really push it. Rides exceptionally on the nose.... super stable and just slots in perfectly.
Still playing with fins at the moment but my first up thruster set with a 5.5"rear is working a treat.
Hi everyone, well after four days out in the surf and felling a little flat I had a paddle on Lake Mac this morning.
I was up at five and went and had a look at the surf, the onshore's from yesterday afternoon had not cleaned up. The wind was totally still on the lake as forecast so I made a pit stop at home and swapped the boards over. My Starboard Waterline was made for these types of conditions so when the chance comes to paddle it, it's always a treat.
In these conditions the board makes no sound and has glide like you would not believe. I had about an hours paddle and throughly enjoyed it. The surf will always come first but on mornings like this you don't feel like you have missed out not scoring any waves.
Have a great day.
Hi Emeboy, looks great, can I ask what size board you have?
Hey DTB.... Its the 10x28" 121ltr....
Thanks mate, looks great under your feet. Looking at a board that size for my next longboard sup, I will add it to the list.
Hi everyone, I finished two weeks holiday yesterday and after chasing waves all around the place my local "wave pool" turned on to farewell me back to work.
Little waist to head high runners zipping along the bank made for a fun morning, even better I must have had spiders all over me as the lay down crew left me alone
I brought a Garmin Instinct solar watch to use when I paddle on flat water last week, so I thought I would give it a go in the surf to see how much ground I cover. I was out for just over three hours and was surprise to see the I covered 11kms in total. As you can see from the screen grab it was a beach break with rides 50 to maybe 100 metres.
I did not pony up the extra to get the surf edition watch, but looking at the graph and watching the replay it seems I rode around 50 wave that morning. Forty nine rights and one left, I do like my forehand
Well back to work now and back to being a weekend warrior, hoping that the waves arrive on the right day.
Have a great week all.
Stephen.
Thanks Tardy, I was lucky with the crowd, had one guy who I know for awhile and was happy to see the rest of the crew enjoy the next peek along.
Another photo from you that makes your home look like a paradise.
Nice wave count Steve ,
i had a flat water lagoon paddle with a mate ,talked crap all the way
Rub it in Tardy... I havent surfed in Vicco without wetsuit for 2 years :(
BomberDave I recon if I lived in Victoria I would be wearing a wetsuit most of the time too ,your water is cold man .
ours is 18-19 at the mo so still chilly for most ,but will get to 26 ,we are still in wetsuits surfing ,you got to make use of these no wind days and keep paddling to stay fit for when the surf is on ..it's a great feeling after a few paddles your board just keeps gliding through the still water, when out surfing that never happens , on the paddle all the time ,I should of really had the 12 search ,but I enjoy a good challenging paddle on the 9'11 insane ,it glides nice but still has the surfboard wobble.
Nice pics Breezers... you are warming up as we cool down, and head into wave season (but no wetsuit yet)
We got our start with 5 days of Hurricane Earl swells.
I did one boat trip with RbGar, to an undisclosed Island and struck gold.
Two solo Road Trips to points a few hours from home
and finally, 3 nice sessions at home.
Not a lot of video due to locations or rain, but I got a few days filmed
here's one from a Solo Road Trip
Nice one!
Are you cranking you new quobbas there?
We are enjoying a nice run of the same swells here.
Yes.... Quobba's ONLY.
Enjoy your Earl waves J.... they have been fun!
Fat incoming tide beachies at my local. Windsurfing mate gave me 3 of his fins to try in my Revo.
Loved every minute of it.
3 hours of power.
Life's too short.
Hi everyone, great to see you are out and about getting some waves or paddle time in.
I made a poor choice again this morning, with the swell still up I chose to drive north to a few beaches that work in the conditions. Well not today pretty much close outs at both beaches I planed to checkout.
Still a had a nice drive in the country and spied a few Kangaroos on the way home. I stopped at one last beach and watched six foot plus barrels spitting on a very shallow bank. No one out, and towing in would have been the best option, I wish I had my camera with me as the light was perfect and would have made for some great photos.
To top the morning off I arrive home and as I have breakfast check my local beach webcam to spy the crew scoring some rare rolling waves breaking off the local break wall
And tonight a mate that I surf with sometimes post on Instagram great waves he went south for
Sometimes it pays not to over think things, I still have a chance to get some waves tomorrow before the rest of the week turns onshore.
I might just go local tomorrow
Steve.
Hi everyone, I actually made it into the water today I checked a few of the beaches early and the wind had not yet cleaned the surface. And the swell was still pushing in strongly, with closeouts on offer at the beaches I looked at. Still it was a nice sunrise...
The lake was like glass as I drove past, so I headed home and made a quick board swap and hit the lake. The wind was starting to ruffle the surface but I had a nice half an hours gliding along on the Waterline.
A great way to start the day.
Steve.
Awesome beach we found at the top end of Siargao Island, Philippines, photos don't do it justice, small 2-3' reef break a short paddle out, no one out except me and another surfer, unfortunately forgot to put the GoPro on the board when I paddled out so photos are after I came in.
Last week Thursday I took the day off to chase the hurricane swell. I drove 200 kms to the most sheltered spot from the strong onshores. The conditions were tough at 4-6 foot with 38 to 48 km/h onshore winds, turning to cross shore as the day progressed. The gusts of wind would blow me off the board, especially if I dared to turn sideways to try to position myself for a wave. I started out on the Hypernut, but that was a disaster, so I grabbed the Wedge.
Paddling was tough with the currents and the wind, and I snapped my leash in the morning. I am pretty sure that it got wrapped and a fin sliced through it. Luckily it was low tide, so the board ended up on the sand. Also it was lucky that I had a spare leash, and I can swim well enough, since there was nobody around at the time. I contemplated ditching the paddle, but ended up using the blade to body surf in on a few waves.
The sets were just close outs unfortunately and the smaller waves that would bowl were the best, but it was tough to hang around to catch those without being able to duck dive when the sets would come rolling in. I cannot pop myself over foam that big and powerful. I guess I did better than the few surfers who could not even paddle out.
I was out for around 5.5 hours with 2 breaks and, according to my Apple Watch, it's the most calories I've burned in a day, since I've bought it 14 months ago.
It was meant to start swinging offshore by lunch time, which would have cleaned it up and made it a bit more manageable, but unfortunately that only started happening in the late afternoon as I was about to leave and took the photo below.
Hi everyone, Sub that looks like a paradise to me, with all the rain we have had lately I would love to see water that clear.
Billboard, looks like a fun wave, hope the rain of the last few days passed you bye.
Seb, well at least you went out and caught some waves, I drove around for a few hours yesterday and came up empty handed. Glad your board missed those rocks, they look like board killers.
So today I headed south after looking at the overnight wind patterns. The beach I was heading for had a wave but mostly closing out, so I turned for home thinking that I would miss out on a surf. At the last moment as an act of desperation, I check a spot that I have not surfed in years. Bit of a novelty wave but to my surprise the sand was in the right space and the first set came in had me racing to get out there before the tide came in and killed it.
Caught a few nice waves, spotted a very large Turtle paddling out, first time in thirty five years that I have seen one in the surf. A few of the bommies out the back had some large sets hitting them. I should have paddled out for a look but was happy to have a spot to myself and just enjoy a beautiful morning.
Back at the car, its a beautiful spot to spend a Sunday morning.
Have a great day all.
Steve.

Can you hire Sups there or did you take your own. It looks awesome there and not crowded. I have wanted to go there for a while, I think it's somewhere one can stay for a while and surf most days somewhere.
Creek iAlways enjoy your posts, can you please give me some information re the vest you are wearing ,protection/ floatation?,I think that time is coming for me !
fun couple of days..... but the crowds were killing me
I have discovered yesterday during a rare 2 surf day that the vest is more than rib protection and flotation for when it gets hairy. Although this most probably applies to beach breaks, the vest's float during the fight back to the peak is a major energy conserver. And that energy conservation can make the difference in the overall success and enjoyment of the session.
