Very nice Al
You're going to get a chubby every time you see that.
Yeah thanks Cobra, can't wait till it's finished and riding it.It's the longest board I've ever owned
Ok Al we will wait
Sorry not good enough iphones rock
Well after this week past. Well I don't see the point of owning a 10 ft Mal.
Most people are getting them because they are old, unfit, ailments or just can't catch waves on a smaller boards etc ...
So after my fun on a 10 ft 666 there is no hard answer on what I think the better option would be.
It just makes more sense. Great workout, kind on those injured joints. No sore back or neck. Covers a lot of distance.
So I said something I thought I never would....
A 10 ft 666 is way better and makes way more sense than a 10 ft Mal
I own two boards that fit into this ,10 and 10.6.
Yes I'm old yes I'm unfit but I'm not alined with anybody.
I surfed my 10 footer the other day while Vanders was on his 11.11.
I had fun Vanders caught more waves and his length of ride was greater than mine.
We swapped boards for 15 mins I couldn't catch a thing and swapped back,I was interested
in going 11 or 12 foot but after sitting on one I found it too big a board for me.I'm glad I had a
paddle on it,it knocked the idea of getting one out of my mind.
I think the danger of these big boards is dropping back down to a 9.6.Spend too much time on 10 11 foot boards
and you are going to struggle.
But having said that those 11 foot boards look great trimming down the line.No right or wrong each to there own.

Top post ...
Yep horses for courses. I just found that the big 666 had far more benefits than the mal. Easier to turn, even falling off heaps I covered some ground and got a bag full. Fell off heaps even at 10ft and tiny surf lol I can see myself saving up for one
I'm just afraid to ask next door
I got bored after about a month. Sold it and never regretted it.
Have one now I paddle on flat water but never goes in the surf. I'd just rather ride a 10ft log if it's small or find a shorey and ride a fish.. Iweigh bugger all so maybe small waves don't bother me so much.
Each to their own though. Whatever gets you in the water.

I wouldn't go that far as I love my 10 footer - but if I was getting another 666 I would get a 10 foot longboard style one. To me thats what they were always meant for. I used to have a 9'5" Mana - that thing was epic in small ****ty waves. Once the surf gets half way decent I want to be a board that surfs well - not some long fat heavy piece of machinery. I see lots of people on 666's struggling and I think how much more fun they would have on a longboard style of board. I wonder if the 666 revolution to go shorter was much like the Slater lead banana board of the 90's........until everyone worked out they only go well for a few people / few conditions.
Oh it could be a complete novelty for me as well . I did have so much more fun than just sitting between sets , I liked cruising around checking **** out.
I liked being a pest out there as well
Hey I wish I never let boofy snaffle that 10 footer from me....
I still Like what asea says...Ride em all but a big 666 I still think outweighs a Mal at that size
Wrong room fellas take this conversation a few levels down please
There won't be any posts if you do that Mac

Yah well I got nuthin' champion I've had to totally re-invent my surfing on one of the fat bastard of a things farken hard work but yer I surf it as close to a LB as I can , ask V , Al , Obs & Asea
But one thing I swear upon is never hovering over the lineup , hassling & pissing over others already there - shame so many do though

9 foot even
Big board update;
I've got a newby on her way over from San Diego right now.
Josh Hall is bringing an 11'8 'Winter Eagle' over with him for my pick up in Byron next weekend during the BB Surf Festival.
The green one is also in transit which Josh will be selling while he's over here.
...can't wait to lay my hands on her.
I just bought a 12'6 Starbie All Star... Fun thing for riding very small waves, cruising, and down winders... But with a stick in ones hands!
12 Foot Brewer!
Not a great pic though... Hmm, reasonable pic...
(not mine! - stolen pic from internet!)

Yep,can vouch for that,The Pupster rides em real good
Like the look of the Brewer,it still has a nice curve in the outline whereas the Josh hall designs are so straight in the rail outline with the only curve when its puled in at the nose and tail,no need for templates on that plan shape ,ill take the Brewer any day
I think I qualify for this thread now,got a bit of thirsty work to do tonight
