Medewi would be fun hey...K'maz will get better with the tide, but you'd wanna be in the car now. Top of Impossibles is looking epic. The size would be keeping the hordes of Euro's on the shore at Balangan too. Hope ya score mate

Trying to sort accommodation around Secret Point at present, I reckon that could be on with the swell this big. This whole Bali thing is much more difficult to be spontaneous with the brood in tow innit?

Yep it's on???????? woke up to this. Low tide, coming in. The sneaky west swell didn't start coming till about 845. That's it for me when they start. Too hard. 1 snapped board 1 snapped leggy, one near drowning (me) are good signs to call it a day. Should settle nicely for a Lago ??

Even just travelling with one missus can be hard to be spontaneous Smicko lol

Balangan is best on top & bottom tides. Pics look like the swells got a lot of West in it which would account for why the East is so much smaller atm....Padang Padang would be fun to watch with a few Bintangs.

K'maz is looking good with 6 or 7 out atm & glassy. Already cross shore at the goo though, so wind won't be far off.

Sanur can be a good jumping off point if your thinking of surfing up around secret point. Doesn't take long to get up & back & there is a lot more to keep the missus & kids happy. Also a ton of accomodation options.

or

the rooms beside the pool near reception here (there's 2 pools). White tiled verandah ones or 1 of the 3 2 story villas. Best to look first to see if your missus is happy. But you usually end up having that pool to yourself coz most people use the other one.

That's the thing with Lise, the quieter the better. That's why we're in Balian, no hawkers. Sanur would've been my pick as a base but if she cops one "you buy" I'll never get her back here.
I looked at Secrets as a base but was concerned with consistency at this time of year.
That's also the problem with Balian, you cop a solid swell and the options are limited. Great when it's flat though...

^^That's cranking Balangan!! Looks really nice til you get a sense of scale and how sketchy it is in the last pic.

Fair enough...That area of Sanur in front of Tanjung reef is not too bad for Hawkers, don't get bad until you get about 200m North. But between those 2 resorts which are next to each other & Hardy's. The people are not pushy at all. Although you will get offered Massages pretty often haha...you also have that sucky left out the front to the left of Tanjungs which I thought you might have liked on the kneelo.

Secrets would be a bit sketchy with the high's in the arvo, you do want a higher tide there eh...But the breaks South of K'maz would be fine.

Kommune is a rip off imo...this place just opened up at the end of last year just behind in those rice fields. Cheap beer & food at the supermarket next door.

& this place looks good for the price. Both places a couple of mins walk to the beach. I was booked for my trip last June, but cancelled due to early tradies.

There's also a few other places around there not advertised like over the road from the kmaz supermarket, but I can't remember its name.

Probably be a fun time to stay on top of the hill overlooking Bingin too

SW west swell, lining up nicely, a few from the west hitting now, wider more evil and less opportunity of escape. Hence more snapped boards and leggies. I'm waiting till late this arvo to hit it again. ????

Balangan, best beach in Bali imo. Love those Swiss Family Robinson Warungs down there & when conditions are right such a fun wave...S69, personally if I were you. I'd save my energy & be thinking of surfing Impossibles top or end sections between 0830 & 1030. I'd be waking up at 0530, eating some fruit I bought the day before & drinking coke watching Balangan from the hill deciding to head out there or do the run around to Bingin car park on a scooter at 0600. Good chance Balangan will be a lot better early tomorrow though. If not Bingin or Impossibles is bound to have some joy for ya if the swell doesn't drop too much

Huge here today. Sets built as the day went on. Mid arvo was a solid 10 old school measurements on the sets with 6 waves a set rolling through . Scary.

Smicko - sadly I will not be able to make it to Balian before you leave. Even have a friend their house sitting a palace of a villa that I could stay with but unable to do it. Thanks for the kind offer and hope it's not too big down there for ya.

Cheers
Pretty much how things have panned out
Swell is still solid and winds off shore crowds manageable. Had to take the family to Jimbaran at lunch time so they could get some Waves for themselves. Got kidnapped in the afternoon by some great dudes we've met over here to surf this epic little left that I didn't know existed and surfed that till dark. Unbelievable to find a spot over her that's in the mix of it that I never new about. Only breaks on a big swell, breaks alongside a vertical cliff and can deliver 200m+ rides as demonstrated last night and apparently on bigger swells goes further!

Turning out to be an epic trip.....one more day here then off to Lembongan.

Good to hear mate...yeah I know what one you mean, it breaks fairly often but its really soft unless the swells massive. You get waves off Jimbaran cliff to when the swells massive...you got plenty more swell coming, I think Lembongan will be going off for ya. That right at Playgrounds is so fun when it gets double overhead

Managed to scrape this up from one of the sessions, the drone dude was there for someone else but managed to grab piece these little bits together for me.

Spoilt rotten for waves every day bar 3 the whole time away. From double overhead to waist high but everyday in the water at least twice and a huge smile on my face. Wife and gross got a few and all in all a great surfing time away. Aaahhhh ??

Hopefully some more photos ( water shots ) from big Balangan , Ulus and Bingin to come?? We'll see if that comes off? Young Euro lass with all the gear was capturing another lass with a long board. Managed to be there on a few occasions and apparently some good ones? We'll see.

Any way good times apart from the aborted landing chaos on the way home :)

Very nice mate, been waiting to hear how Lembongan went...good score to get some video eh, that board goes well for ya. Looks really maneuverable

We need more man, more the merrier...I'm so toey for a Bali trip...missus reckons next June is too far away to get away, angling that we can only afford a Bali trip in Jan

We arrived at Lembongan on the tail end of the big swell. Apparently was going off its tits for the week before we arrived. We were there for a week and the first four days had over head conditions at play grounds and lacerations. Shippies was crowded but by all accounts from my buddy who is happy to jostle with the crowds, epic. Once the solid swell had passed some great days playing in chest to just over head playgrounds and lacerations.
Not too many people at Lacerations and Playgrounds but stacks each day at Shippies, which is fine by me I don't surf it anymore had 20 years crowd free there. :)

Nice vision from the drone - whats the dims of that board? You seemed to have whack it around no problem but it looks a fair size from above. That is the wave that I thought it was. The jump in gave it away
