Also, I read about the panorama mode on the AW100, it seems the resolutions are as follows:
Normal (180?):
3200 ? 560 when the camera is moved horizontally,
1024 ? 3200 when the camera is moved vertically
- Wide (360?):
6400 ? 560 when the camera is moved horizontally,
1024 ? 6400 when the camera is moved vertically
Much lower pixel count than that of the normal 16 MP on that camera.
If you really wanted to get high res panoramas, try the panorama assist mode and then stitch the images together in a post processing software like Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop.
I personally haven't done this but it can make some damn cool shots!

At the moment I like the time stamp on, because for various reasons where and when I took the photo are important, and the shots I am taking very much a learning mode / record of what I was doing.
The couple I have printed I have cropped it off, but agree it would be good if it was a bit more discreet.
I have been meaning to learn photoshop for years, just like photography, but time just never there. It's only this year I've found time to try and take a few photos.
Here is a panorama straight out of the camera - not sure how it will post but the effect is pretty good, even where the "steps" in the picture are noticeable. This was just hand held at the back of the car.
I shall do my homework and report back.

Tried a couple of 180 deg and 360 deg panoramas from the board this morning - fail.
Didn't like me rocking around and changing light fooled it a bit.
Will keep trying!
You can see that either from the image above a) you are a bit unsteady or b) the camera doesn't stitch images together too well.
Look at the jetty and you will see that it isnt lined up.
Only thing I can think of for panorama without stitching is to do it on and sturdy tripod that is as level as possible and keep your rotating speed consistent.
Maybe tie a rubber band to the handle of a tripod to do so.

You can try this:
there are tripods for shooting panos depending how much you want spend
keep in mind this when shooting panos your camera has two axis one through the centre of the lens and the other along the focal plane (film plane) on the camera where they intersect is the centre of the camera and if you rotate around this point you will reduce the curvature effect.
if you shoot in portrait format, rather than landscape, compose your shot so you can crop down to want you rather than trying to fit it right to the edges.
keep the overlaps a bit bigger to make stitching easier
Two paranois from this weekend, still hand held all on the camera, but much more attention to keeping it level.

I love pelicans as a photo subject - they are a bird with attitude.
Have a lot of 'almost" shots due to pelicans not co operating.
