Thanks mate, I plan to enjoy it, we're heading into windsurfing doldrums. Head high waves and all day glass offs are possible this time of year.
Wow over 6 months have passed and I've finally managed to get a surf in OK waves.
My back and hip have been playing up, at one stage I couldn't even sit on the board, my legs wouldn't spread wide enough!
Hopefully now we've finished moving furniture around, and I have a better understanding of my limits, I may be able to stay fit enough to keep surfing.
I was very pleased with it today, catches waves very easily, turns and nose rides well. I don't think it will take me very long to be completely at home on it. Waves were only waist high, (well most of the ones I was catching) I was picking off the smaller ones, because I could catch them. Just wanted to start slowly until I got my confidence back.
Wearing a helmet is a must to protect your head and face if you fall. Make sure that it perfectly fits the head of you, whether it is a skateboarding-specific type or a multi-sport version.
The use of wrist guards, as well as knee and elbow pads, are advised for added protection in case of an accident. It is also recommended that you wear closed-toe rubber shoes with grippy outsoles for better foot grip while riding. Also, make sure that you wear loose T-shirts and shorts that do not interfere with your movement.
