The chapter 11 is only relevant to the US part of Quicky...apparently once its done and dusted they will be able to write that part of the business off and it should alleviate a lot of the fiscal issues the Aussie side has

You are right Quik is essentially 3 divisions, US, Europe and Aus / Asia. The US arm is the one filing for a Chapt 11 or relief from their creditors...

I know that writing off the debt sounds like a great solution, especially for the corporate Bankers that now own Quik but the debt they are trying to avoid, that debt is owed to people that supplied goods and services to Quik on good faith of being paid.

So basically the corporate bankers get to not pay people who have worked for Quik and then use that to rebuild the company so they get a big fat boner Cheque to spend on coke and whores... The only winner here is Oaktree Capital.

More on Quik

My personal opinion is that they aren't surfing labels anymore they are corporate owned clothing companies and to be honest i think i will be taking more care to spend my money elsewhere.

Yep building industry is about the worst, shonky developer can't pay, company goes bankrupt and he just starts again meanwhile the poor buggers that worked for him and sold him goods on credit cop the actual cash loss.

But the biggest thing for me out of it is why buy this stuff, the brands are hardly surf focused anymore, they are clothing labels that use surfing to sell clothes. I was hardly a big buyer of surf stuff anyway, always tried to support the little guy but definitely makes me want to avoid quik-bong the future.

It's not a thread, it's a tv show that was just on called "countdown to life" and I would not normally mention anything about it here because it's all about human embryonic development, however , when they were showing a preview of next weeks show, there was a picture of Laird Hamilton.

That's got me really intrigued, what on earth would he be doing on an English science doco?

I had no intention of missing the next episode because it relates to one of the most interesting aspects of development, but now there's another reason not to miss is.

Sorry to jump the gun, I just could not stand the suspense of not knowing for 7 days so I looked up the transcript of the show.

Apparently Liard is used as an example of someone who is prone to take higher levels of risks than others and this can be traced back to the womb.

That's why the shot of him showed him holding up his hand because the length differential between the ring and index fingers is an outward manifestation of increased testosterone levels.

I'm guessing they'll be showing some footage of him catching some big'uns

Speaking of big waves SP - what size board would yo ride out here

Swellnet: How big is it forecast to get on Monday?
The swell looks pretty big Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Sunday looks like it could get up to around 80 foot and Monday and Tuesday look like it could get up to the 100 foot mark.
No doubt about it, it looks big. But what about those winds?
It looks like there is going to be a fair bit of wind with a few moments of light winds. We'll have to watch carefully and choose when we go out.
So no matter what, you reckon you'll get a go out?
We're definitely planning to go out there and give it a crack as that's what we're here for. But obviously if the winds are way too strong and the ocean is mess, well, riding 100 footers will have to be put on hold.
What board will you'll ride?
We have a board designed by Jarryd and Chapstar surfboards. It's a 5"11 tow board with more thickness then your average tow board. We thought we would do something different to eliminate the chops down the wave and it seems to be working. The board weighs about 12 kilos with all the weights on it.
