Increasing talk that the first test might be cancelled. I think to date the men in Blazers have done a good job so far. Let's hope Phill can pull through

Unfortunately not, he passed away a short time ago

Just been driving and listening to this terrible news. So frigggen sad. Taken too young doing what he loved. Thoughts to his family n friends. Alan Jones just gave a wonderful background on his enormous talents. I am shocked at this. Blown away how terrible it is. Goodness knows how his friends who were playing with him will deal with this. My heart also goes out to Abbot. He must be suffering hugely right now. Hope he can find the strength to come out the other side

Well maybe - but him being there and dominating the attack and helping pull the squad together might have more than made up for it - perhaps but I hear what ya are saying. I would think his career might be coming to a very rapid end. Poor fella.

Yeah, I agree.

good to see him tough it out today and get some runs. But still what if he had to bat yesterday again? Could he have?

Will he field?

Still a massive call to declare himself fit. But ATM and after the last week I think he made the right call if he fields.

SP and Lacey your just one of the many writing the captain off, I think you have to relise the fact he is still producing the goods. I wouldn't listen to ted he hasn't got a clue about cricket

Not writing him off at all, him and MJ should be the first 2 picked. he is our best bat by far and captains to win.

Just think it's a big call to continue to take a bloke into games who is a big chance of not making it through to the end.

But as I said above after the last few weeks I understand why the captain played an led the team. But how long can you take a bloke that isn't fit. 3 tests with 3 days between them will be a tough summer for him.

If he fields today I think he made the right call, if he can't field and lead the team then has he made the right choice? And will he backup for the next test?

Nope - that is just a statement based on my thoughts on his present medical situation. Writing him off would be more in line with "MC should get the farrrk out of dodge as his back is gone as you saw the other day and there is no way he will be able to play back to back to back tests this summer. He is a problem for the team"

Instead I showed comparison and also mentioned "poor fella' meaning I am hoping this will not be the case. Clearly a player of his ability and general fitness (bar his back) should be able to play well into his late 30's in this day. Sadly at the moment this does not look like the case. Lets hope its not.

Stop stirring and go get a beer down ya

doesn't matter if your the don or god or both be able to play 5 days if not your letting your side down no matter what.

Clarke was going to play no matter what, pre test everyone wanted him to play, it was meant to be. This test wasnt about winning or losing.

ps. I'm guilty on numerous occasions of suggesting an upsidedown bat in a bucket of sand would score more runs than Clarke or hughes.
