A friend has had both, and sold the new tech off pretty quickly, his words ..to pricey.to start with.not anywhere as durable. dents in the deck from knee paddling, and other incidentals, surfed similar, but not as good as old tech,IMO all the above is why the old tech is so popular and hard to come by.the main difference in the construction is the pvc wrap/ sandwich construction..definitely the difference in durability/weight,and perhaps the way they surf, again in my experience / and my opinion.

Mac I keep saying to you any more than 2 does your head in, you go to the surf and say should have brought the other board today etc so taking 2 on the car covers all bases I think. Strangely I'm now down to 1 but looking for a partner to go with it.

I had the 10'6 Lopez Glider in the new NFT tech which is what the most recent Munoz is constructed from. After riding it approx 30 times, I took the wax off and was amazed that there was not the slightest blemish on it and it presented as new so, based on that, I've ordered a new 10'6 Munoz which is awaiting my pickup. We know that the shape works and the volume is great and my experience with NFT is first rate so I think you'd be on a winner.

Surf animal, thanks your input its timely for me personally, the 10,6 Lopez gets rave reviews from the states, does it paddle as well as they rave about?and I was wondering if the NFT construction was better than the construction previous to it ..which I was referring to,also with your Lopez did you knee paddle it ?,as for my injury needs I cannot prone paddle any more, and knee paddling is the worst thing for any board, without a pvc / sandwich,at least in the knee area.so if the NFTconstruction is handling that I'm in!

I'd have to say that the NFT is up there with the original from a construction viewpoint, also a bit lighter (in weight) and feels more springy.

The TLPC construction was the dodgy one IMO.

I don't knee paddle so can only comment as a prone paddler.
The Lopez has amazing glide as you'd expect but the float is what you'd generally expect from its volume and wasn't outrageously floaty like a Walden Mega or similar. It's not overly corky with 60/40 rails that are soft and forgiving.

The thing I noticed most about the Lopez is how well it went in cheat to head high waves. It seemed to get better with increasing size so is not just a small wave cruiser.

I had a dream session down the south coast in good 4 foot waves that I'll remember as being one of the best I've ever had and the board was unbelievably good.
I rate it very highly.

I love my 10'6" - granted in the old tech
Also love my 11' - in the TPLC (likely to add another in the old tech very soon)
I don't have any complaints about the TPLC construction, albeit not as indestructible compared to the old tech... but then, what is?

The 10'6" in the NFT looks the goods.
And would agree, as someone with both the 10'6" Munoz and 11' Prince, the pair would make an excellent 2-board quiver.

Mac I've already given you a hint riding longer boards and gone surftech that my friend tells you I'm very close to the end of a very enjoyable sport of many decades, as far as what's happening no idea. Cheers

Bugger!
If you can get clear epoxy and put peel ply over glassed repair.
Easiest is just use Solarez Epoxy

If its new to you and came wrapped, its possible you cut the board with a knife

I used to build boards years ago and was away on holiday surfing Mount Maunganui on my 8'4" and got a fin into my board through to the EPS foam. It got me back on the water and thinking I'll do a proper repair but its lasted 10 years

No affiliations but so easy to use, bit of sanding and preparation under shade then tape clear plastic over and put in the sun to go off

SOLAREZ Epoxy repair putty is a mixture of clear, high strength, fiber reinforced epoxy resin and an amazing solar activated catalyst. There is no mixing required, just use it right from the tube. It gels in 5 seconds, curing in 3 minutes - but ONLY when exposed to sunlight.
