What a bunch of dumb ****ing questions I feel dumber for reading that.

I reckon he handles the fkn idiotic questions pretty well... I probably would have just rolled my eyes and walked out...

Some pro's and cons of the Liddle DM... and shapers profile vid...

Scott BTW is not really how I pictured these "Hipsters"

Does also acknowledge that Dane is clearly not the right match for the board, i'd LOVE to see Devon or Joel on one...

Interesting that he preferred it to Lizzy though as well.

stabmag.com/stabcinema/dane-reynolds-scott-anderson-greg-liddle-the-electric-acid-surfboard-test/

I'd bet Dane on the wrong board still surfs it better then 99% of the population could.

The curiosity factor would get me on a perfect lined up point but as daily driver think they seem limited. Think I'll always be scarred by Jimmy gamboa struggling in One California day. Kinda wish id taken the vouch for a wave when before sending down to you.

Totally Agree dude, Dane is a freak on anything... Mann I reckon they miss having a personality and raw talent like him on the World Tour...

And yeah, Lizzy is my DD, this ones for curiosity and to try and learn something different... I mean really, a lot of us have big quivers but you tend to surf 2 boards 80% of the time... so nothing wrong with adding some variety

And yeah, I think I told you to take her for a spin... TK was unreal on it on the points... Just too small for me

Yeah you did, just didn't get time to surf it. And would feel ****ty if I damaged it.

Meh, I wouldn't have cared dude... I loan my boards out plenty and have had plenty of them damaged...

so I tought myself how to repair a board instead, makes more sense... especially when your as ****e as me

Back on Hulls for a minute.... I reckon the factors that make a Hull the board that it is, the things that dictate it's strengths and weaknesses, and thus the things that seem to polarise people on the subject, have a whole lot more to do with pretty much everything about the board other than the convex 'hull' aspect.

Couple of images attached, the second is a description specifically of a Liddle Hull, the first is a collage of one of my boards.
This is the board that I grab when there's some juice, I'll ride it happily in anything I game for. Definitely not a 'hull' by my reckoning, but probably carrying as much convex curve through the front half as in the description below. It's got a slight bit more tail rocker than a typical hull, my rails are certainly not full there's a lot of deck roll. The back half is different for sure, the bit more rocker already mentioned, it also transitions through a triplane into a pretty typical double concave with v, then back to flat behind the fin. My fin is in a more normal spot and I've got little tiny bonzer style side bites that go in for a bit more hold and certainty when it's steep or hollow.

I've had a couple of attempts at shaping a full hull and to be honest I missed the mark each time, I've never held one in my hands so that kind of stacks the cards against me.

I love riding from the front half of the board, narrow stance. I love watching people do it, I love the feeling it gives me on the wave, I love burying the rail with all I've got and drawing the turn out long. I'm not suggesting I'm necessarily spectacular at it, but I'm pretty sure I hold my own. I certainly get plenty of comments about my boards after people see me surfing.
The whole forward narrow stance thing is something I actively work on. The Liddle Hull on the way is just a step in that journey, a learning tool if you like. It may not end up being something that I ride everyday, or even something that I hang on to. In my mind it's job is to teach me more about using the forward part of the rail, about having less and less dependence on the fin.

You definitely hold your own dude... In early, really smooth but critical... really enjoyed watching you surf and I can see where your going.

I reckon the DM will work really well for you... i'm less confident with me but at least i'll have given it a crack

Hi Salty, are you quoting someone else in the second part of your post underneath the pics?
Confusing with the 2 kinds of typeface used. If its a quote from whom?

Yeah I am. I have a folder on my hard drive for Hulls. This grab is something that I found interesting in the past and screenshot. Think it's a forum post - Who, When, Where, I no longer have any idea.

Nice one.

It's a welcome change to have someone talk about their personal trip over footage of the kind of waves that any of us might get at home. A bit of a balance to the endless stream of hyper high performance, day of days epic clips that are the typical run on most feeds.

So it was small but glassy this morning so figured I'd muck around and make it fun.
Have a set of fcs glass flex m7 fins I'd made into a set of mini keels. Popped them into my trusty Vquad 7'6". Was surprised how much hold on the face of the wave these little fins gave me. At the same time felt faster paddling and riding the wave.
The bottom of the board is a tri plane hull (double concave with spine in between).
Only spun the tail out once pushing too hard on my last wave. Otherwise made my session into a load of fun. Worth trying if things are getting stale or you want to know how your rails really feel.
Reckon I could put some quads rears into the board and ride it in some 3' waves on a point no problems at all.

When my back was really giving me grief I stopped surfing for over a year. Sold all of my boards (14 or so) except the vquad.
The board can be surfed in small right through to chicken out size. Never catch a rail on it. Its got fine eggy rails. One thing I forgot to mention. Riding the board I didn't need to crouch ala Derek Hynd finless. Standing up as normal works just fine.

Tryed to stop at 4. Rotated a few in and out as I got my sea legs back and adjusted accordingly.
Greedy Beaver 6'8"
DVS rocket fish 6'9"
Vquad 7'6"
Beachbeat 7'8".
DMS 6'8" quad fish is for sale and a Tomo vanguard 6'2" for when I'm feeling like a grommet again.
Here is the vquad 7'6" and the 7'8". Both with double concave bottoms but the 7'8" has a v running down it's length.
Put a stright edge on the stringer of the vquad and the straight edge will touch both rails as well. On the 7'8" the straight edge on the stringer has to be tilted to touch either rail.

Another bloody hipster riding a hull...

Looks fuuuurn though dude...

And yeah, I know the feeling with the whole "having to crouch to turn" bizzo... I found the Vouch Spoon I had was a lot like that... Its one of the things I LOVE about Lizzy, standing tall and cruising that front sweet spot on the board and finding perfect trim... then drop the back foot back and full rail turn rather than pivot off the tail... I think its the big thing i prefer over the fish that is more SB style and loves to turn with your feet over the keels.

I still find I crouch surf my backhand a lot though... but thats because i'm a massive kook

Been waiting for this one. Looks like it's been available on Vimeo on Demand for a while but I didn't realise.

Edit: the video embed didn't work first time, just google 'vimeo on demand thank you mother' if it isn't showing.
