That's great hydro- the CW look like great boards and are really reasonably priced so either way you will get a great board. SDR & GW have a tremendous amount of experience- you will have an upgrade from that SBW @#$*!

Cheers Onefin,

Greg has offered to have it made on my side of the biscuit by a very well respected shaper and glasser.

And in PU with futures which would have been my preference in the first place. A little heavier and a little duller but that's me all over

All at a used board price.

The guys a legend who unfortunately has been burnt by sub standard workmanship of a contract shaper.

If anyone is looking at a Webber the Diamond is still an absolutely awesome midlength ride, seriously should be considered and looked at.

I have nothing but highest praise for how it performed and felt, but I would be getting in direct contact with Greg rather than an outlet.

As for SBWH, haha lets not go there hey. Other than the fact they are now pushing Nev's Oz built shapes, seems they can't get reliable supply from their traditional source ATM. All of which bodes well for local shapers and makers.

He should send those cheques back then.

I don't buy the burnt by sub standard stuff. They know it's not as good. Customers should know that too. Most probs do but are thinking with there pocket. Can't blame a shaper either for looking for an income stream, shaping boards is a tough gig.

The webbers made by GSI were **** and it appears that these aren't much better.
Great design appauling glass jobs. All the GSis were. The big issue is the shaper has no control over quality like they would in their own factory.

Awesome he is standing by it anyway and sorting you out.

Haha l doubt that will happen.

Greg's carved out his business model and way of doing things. And yeah a tough gig in an ever diluted market.

Wanting and needing to maintain a performance edge means skinny up the build. If all is well at the core all good, but if you get a soft one, or a flaw then the cracks begin to show.

Personally I reckon Greg got the formula right, but the execution let him down.

Elements beyond his reasonable control, but regardless he is standing behind the product.

I'm fairly sure given how astute he is that Greg will compile a case history of failures and put it to them.

And rightly so.

Not sure where you are in WA but if you're near Trigg, I've got a 6'8 Racing Mullet (diversesurf.com.au/board-models-2/performance-shortboards/rm-racing-mullet/) that you are welcome to borrow to keep you out there while you're looking around for a new one.

That's a great outcome. Congratulations.

The ricey on the tail of your snapped board you posted says it was made in Thailand, so it wasn't a local shaper.

i don't know if you saw the message I sent two days ago saying this, but Zak Ogram from Z Shapes does the Webber's in WA now - shape, glass and sand. His glass jobs are awesome. He also worked with Webber over East for a while, so you are getting a board from someone who knows how Greg wants things done. Zak speaks very highly of Webber's shapes and his surf froth.

Spot on the money Drip.

Someone's in the know hey.

Are you serious mate? I would be stoked to my back teeth, but also worried about damaging it accidentally.

I'm down near Mundi way but could likely roll up that way on Saturday if that suits?

Feel free to back out if your having second thoughts though, if not YEAH BOI.

Cheeres big time, pretty sure I could spot you a six pack of something for your generosity.

Yeah mate more than happy for you to borrow it no need for a six pack. Saturday works for me, I'll PM you my phone number and you can flick me a message when you know what time you'll be over (don't PM me back though as it is connected to an old email address I can't access any more).

So Lady luck shone in me today.

Picked up a Torq 6'6 swallow tail fish today.

Futures boxes X 5, 40L and surfed once.
Get this... $100.00

It came as a pair with a Gunther tri in good nick for which I had to hand over another $100.

So 2 boards for a couple of hundred.

One almost exactly what I was after, ideal would have been 6'8 but I'm not complaining.

Can't stop grinning.

Also cheers and sincere thanks to all who went outta their way with offers of help and good wishes. Again may good fortune shine back on you and yours.

Gotta say this is not a bad looking shape for a pop out.

And before anyone flames me I already know it's not Oz made. And no I don't feel like having that old long and drawn out discussion and argument about supporting the Oz board makers.

I actually wanted to buy a used Yallingup Hippie by Yahoo that came up yesterday but was 2nd in line with the guy holding it for someone to view on the weekend.

Go figure, cash buyer or a maybe coming to see it on the weekend?

So this is what I got and could afford, which was s marginal midlength and more in long shorty territory.

On the Webber front I am still considering taking up Greg Webber's offer of having a board made in PU by the guys at Yahoo in Yallingup and supplied at cost.

A most generous offer on all their behalfs, but having found this way cheaper option I would not feel right about costing them time and money. Will take this board for a few waves first, if it works for me all good and well, if not then I'll likely hit Greg Webber up for that offer.

Go the Webber.

That's the current plan, but want a sneaky quick ride or two on the Torq first to see what shes like. Suspect slightly under L for me with a dodgy shoulder and fat belly.

Should be able to get at least half of what it is going to cost me for the new Webber made by Yahoo, and an extra 100 for the other board will push my savings along nicely. Might even be able to pop for the Webber and then decide to sell which ever I don't like.

Good old accountant managed to scrounge us some money from the ATO even though I supposedly owe them $100k because our bookkeeper screwed us up? Beats me how but accountant says it's all legit and that the bookkeeper really stuffed it royally.

Adds up to a double win for me in a week.

Just need some decent surf to have a crack with the Torq, Tuesday is looking pretty good at this stage.

Maybe I could sell all the boards and finally get either a Cosmic Twin or a 6'8 Captain Morgan from Yahoo.

Top two of my dream machines.

Yeah pretty much drew the same conclusion CF.

I'll have a few waves on them until the Webber is done and then sell what I don't enjoy.

And I already know how much I enjoyed the Double Diamond.

Well Webber is scratched for now.

Just got a $30k tax office fine on Friday for late submissions of BAS and annual returns.

Damn bookkeeper, disappears with all of my paperwork for 3 years, finally track her down and get things done only to then find she's screwed it up royally .

And the fine is on top of the money we owe them for out standings .........

Anyway, just glad it's sorted and we know how deep in the proverbial we are.

But it puts the possibility of owning another Diamond on the back burner.

So glad I tripped across the Torq 6'6 brand new for $100.

Had another win today with a 7'5 demo but never used mid length / mini mal, never even waxed for $120. Which is fortunate because it re-qualifies me to stick around the mid length forum

For now I'll take whatever little wins I can score.

Oh and Aussie made BTW.

A guy called Daren Glennan of entity surfboards over east.

Looks like it was a promotional board for Bosch advertising or a prize or something?

Anyway I'm not worried, beggars can't be choosers.

Sounds like a top bloke, grew up on the same side of the tracks as I did by sounds of things. Me and some mates tried our hand at shaping and glassing for a while, but like he said no money in boards.

Hope some people who drop in here look him up for a ride.

Cheers Uncle, I was liking the look of the Miller but went the Webber way which offered a bot more versatility in the fins and seemed to have a more developed single to double bottom shape and rocker.

I think that's the same that same board that was for sale not that long ago? Still like the look of it but have jumped onto a 6'6 Torq fish which I picked up for a song.

Appreciate the heads up matey.

So picked up the 7'5 today. Total flashback to a Crozier 7' something I had as a teen.

The Entity is a thruster FCS plugs. Wish it had a single box but a brand new never wax Oz made mid length / mini map for $100 is a steal.

Made as promo boards and cost nearly $900 each.

Shapes not exactly what I would have chosen but I'll give it a few sessions. If I like it winner, if not move it along and still make a few bucks.

Happy days.

So now boardless again.

Both boards sold on the same weekend. And the rocketfish is too small for me.

Did all right for a couple of hundred years nvestment. Made about $600 but need to spread that to a new wettie and board. After the wettie that leaves me about $400 for a board.

And for a fish in the 6'8 to 7', 44 to 49L with futures their is stuff all to nothing around in WA.

Spewing, cause we are supposedly getting some good conditions this week as well.

So this thread is quickly becoming my place of lament.

Whatever happened to every cloud has a silver lining? Or there's a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?

So I did alright buying and trading a few boards in an effort to work my way to a goal of either replacing my Webber with another Webber, or of buying something similar used if I could find one.

Was feeling fairly chuffed with myself given everything else in my world.

But then my car broke down, the ever reliable 80 series became unreliable.

My vacuum pump packed it in, and for those wondering what that is, it's nothing too important other than giving boost to your brakes.

So whilst I was hurtling along at 80kph towards a set of lights it changed, and the BMW in front of me decides to stop. Which is great if you've got ABS, oh and a vacuum pump assisting your brakes.

A bit of creative driving along the hwy reserve saw me miss the back end of the Beamer and steadily sail through the red light managing to avoid a number of obstacles in my part with some sidewalk surfing in an 80 series.

So longish story short, the money I managed to scrounge together for a new slab and wettie now needs to be spent on parts to fix old faithful.

On the one hand I am grateful that I managed to scrounge together within a few bucks the exact money needed for the new parts. On the other I am back to boardless, cold and wondering WTF?? How does a guy at my age who has busted his arse his whole life end up skint because family members steal everything he's worked for his whole life and because unscrupulous clients rack up debt that they have no intention of paying back?

How is it that when you try to do what is right by everyone and trust people who you believed you could you end up getting taken for a right royal ride and advantage of?

How is it that I look around and see guys my age in their new dual cabs with their shiny boards and the time to play? And I can't even afford a used slab let alone a pre pissed in wettie?

I dunno, this stuff just messes my head up, maybe the universe is trying to tell me something and I'm just to damned stupid to hear it.

Bitchin over, feel free to ignore my rant.

I'll just get back in my corner and scream at the sky.

Cheers, 55 burnt out brother. No wind left in my sails to rebuild with.

Brains messed up or so the shrink tells me. All my years of study to become an engineer useless because my higher processing functions are kaput. Any work I do needs to be triple checked because of errors, so can't hold a job let alone score one.

Dark place to live in, dark dark place.

But lot's worse off than me so there is also a lot of gratitude even in that place.
