Now there's a coincidence, it was only today that I was thinking, "why don't we see more longboard quads?"
Nice fade out.
bet she fly's.
funny things happen and i must admit the mac fireball has returned as new,and went like a dream today.
yeah mac thats my quiver shot I will have to update it a lot of those boards have been replaced and a few are stored in bali...the big blue beast in the top of the shot is a keeper...I call it the crowd dispersant....12'3" by 26" tandem... cuts a neat swathe through any crowd
New one in the making,my sons making one of those timber ply things,I'll post some pictures when its done.
Its shaped sanded and its in the clean stage atm,got no idea how he is going to ride it.
some of you guys have got a magnificent quiver going buy your photos, but now on a serious note how many boards and what type of boards would you have if given the opportunity to purchase for your quiver??
In my opinion you only need one board - it's just a matter of finding the one special board that will do it all. Afterall how many of you with a quiver have turned up somewhere for a surf and thought "bugger, brought the wrong board" ? If you only have one board you WILL surf that board on the day no matter what and in no time at all you will become comfortable surfing that board in all conditions which will make you a better surfer and save you dollars and also frustration at always having taken the wrong board with you.
Let me just add - yes I have always changed boards every ten minutes and to be honest I think it's because I have never really found that perfect one board quiver. I have had and ridden many boards that I have really loved but nothing that would allow me to only need one board to do it all. In some ways now that I have no money I am being a bit more particular in finding the one all-round board. In recent times I have had nothing but praise for my dino which is probably the best performance board I have ridden on beachies and heavier points and really really loved the R/A 10fter for its ability in really small surf and its great paddle but I kept the dino as the allrounder and recently I found it lacking on my fave point break in that it didnt have enough paddle and was a bit of hard work in fatter and slower waves so I am still searching for that perfect all-rounder and so far my newest purchase is going close to ticking all the boxes but I've only ridden it twice so only time will tell.
I want an 8 foot double ender pretty flat rockered with a finbox and 4 plugs so I can ride it as a quad or put a big rakey single fin in the box and ride it as a single.
I just need to get some money now.
Picked up this board last week, haven't had a real chance to test it out yet but i'm looking forward to giving it a good thrashing!
It's a Byrne 9'1 x 22 x 2 3/4 Tuflite
My other board is a 9"6 McTav Fireball
Has anyone checked out arkgee's website www.goddardsurfboards.com.au
I had a look earlier and its a great site and some great photos of some of his boat trips.
Great site Arkgee,I also enjoyed the story on how you started shaping.
Took out the Byrne this morning, albeit in massive 1ft swells at the point, and the occasional shoulder high set. Went really well, handles like a dream! Waiting for a little bit of swell so I can test it out on some better waves, but was very impressed with how it went in the small stuff today.
Wait for it ....................................... my next board will not be a mac
I am liking that Munro in lime green
