Don't knock it till you've tried one , closest I'll get to riding ashort board
Kadil, keep at it mate. I've been surfing since April 2010. I had 5 lessons, and by the second I was getting to my feet OK, but falling. It was all to do with strength and fitness. My balance has always been good, but the fitness was what got me.
Now, after 20 months, I have few problems getting up and can move my 9'4" longboard around on the wave a bit, as well as kind of a step to the nose and back. Still a long way from as good as I'd like to be, but at 53, I'm a happy newbie.
It helps to get into the gym too, do some shoulder, and tricep work, as well as hamstrings, and central core stability. It's amazing the difference it will make to your overall fitness and your ability to surf better for longer.
