Jeepers BS - no let up !! Actually though I would not think that would be that difficult as long as you had some skill - good scissors, patience and a good eye
What are you making next Tux?

A 5'10 x 19 x 2 5/8 tomo knockoff and a 6 x 21 x 3 double ender...the tomo has been foiled and I will get the rails and the bottom done this weekend and then send it off to the glasser...its too cold down here at the moment to glass anything and the cost of getting someone else to do its minimal

Pffft ted, you da man Tux...looking really good mate
Nice work Tux - what model planner are you using on those? Its almost too cold here to glass without using lots of promoter or UV lights.
Finally all the ingredients are coming together for the gloss coat. We have a warmish day down here and I am working from home so I should be able to lay it on. I wanted to do it over the weekend but it was too cold. I have just washed the board down after patching up a few sanding issues and am pretty stoked with how she looks. Only 2 real blemishes that I have now given up trying to repair. Thats the problem with a tint - if it gets a bump on the rail during the manufacturing process its a nightmare to fix the fracture Anyway the rest of it is looking sweet. Will try and get some pics up later in the day. If all goes to plan she will be ready for a surf in the next few days. Stoked. In the meantime though there will be some sanding to be done. I have got some super fine and fancy sanding discs from Shapers that Lenny assures me will make he shine like a showroom board. I hope so - as its more work doing the gloss - so I need a decent payoff
The go all the way up to 2000 grit ! ! Holly smoke. I might look like popeye (if only) by the time I finish with them. I have spent hours researching the best gloss mix and technique for laying it on nice and smooth. I am very excited but incredibly nervous as well. More later.
Actually here are a few shots for the before and after comparison. I have gone retro with my decal this time. Should come up all right when its all done I hope. I am really liking the layered glass look - thanks for that design idea Big Spazz. The marks on the bottom are just some water splotches as its still drying in the shade to stop any potential sun spots.
You will notice there is no pin line. I did not put one on as I like the look of the contrasting shades and the cut laps came out really nice so there was no need to hide them.
I just use my Maktec planer bro seems to work OK once I get it close I got to work with the surform and the sand paper...board is looking amazing BTW
OMG I missed this thread because it was over 10' but Ted that is a work of art
Tux your not far behind, cant wait to read more.. How do you guys get time to make boards
Keep them coming..
Thanks fellas. Did the gloss coat today - thinning out the mix is a blessing - it was a breeze to lay it on. Looks like a few foreign objects have landed during the curing process but its not a train wreck. No chance of photos as I ran out of time - too much work to do !!
Will leave it a few days to harden right up then will sand her back. Pretty excited as it looks like I will be able to start with some 300 or even higher. Stoked !!!!!! Its incredible how nicely it has levelled.
Hey JB - hiding in the garage in the evenings is a good way to avoid getting into trouble with the lady
the right thing to do would be to package the board up and get surf cargo to drop it off at palm beach qld
Bloody ripper Ted....it looks brilliant...I'm with others..man where do you get the time
But kudos to you...freakin brilliant

Why not do the deal like "Single fin yellow" send it up the coast for all of us to ride..pic porn included..then send him back to you
Ok fellas she is finally all done. Bloody mission in the end but I am stoked with the results. I took the long road home and it paid off ! Thanks for the fin Mac - As you can see it looks great with the blue. All going well the waves look almost perfect (sadly) for what the board was designed for - 1 to 2 ft n soft ! Thanks for all your kind words of support through the build process. The great thing about doing a build thread is that you have to finish (eventually).
I will try and convince the lady to to take some action pics tom so we can see if it actually works
Will take some shots outside tom if the sun comes out - so you can see the shine !
Thanks Fellas. Just installed Macs fin - looks great - lets hope it performs without its McT badge of honour
Really want to wax her up so I do not have to in the morning but am going to hold off. Wish I could just call Dave up and get him to do it for me
