ohhhh...............the joy of low crowds 3ft clean A frames...ohhhhh the joy

had two days of bliss...hoping for a third in the morning

Well.... quoting my self....I know self indulgent, but did get the third surf this morning. different break / beach......but the crowd....WTF...I have no doubt the beaches are empty in Sydney as they were all here this morning....was "interesting" to say the least. Repairs shops will be doing well today (thankfully not mine though).

Got back in time for some fun ones on the 6'4 midlength yesterday. But was battling a battalion of 666 & LB's...Was on the lookout for a Modern Retro due to aspirations to duplicate a local ripper. Found a new condition similar board a mate was selling at a good price that was cleared by the minister for finance yesterday arvo...ready for battle this morning, but found only 3 others on a fun little chest high point with some perfect testing cross shore action for the new board...I was very concerned about the flex pattern of epoxy for a 10' board. But it went great, heaps smoother than the snowboarding hills I got hammered on holiday...looking forward to some favourable wind later in the week...hope ya all well

lol...I was joking, but then again at 40L it is pretty much middle range volume wise in my quiver...I think width/thickness & rocker are more deciding points than length these days. My 6'0 in this shape paddles way better than my old 7'2 gun due to its width & flat rocker. But anyway, np here's a pic of an old faithfull when she was new.

Still a bit windy here in Sydney - gusts of over 100km/hr this morning. This cell is looking to intensify this evening a bit more. Lots of swell though. I just did a cruise past half a dozen beaches to assess the carnage - might be some real estate in trouble this time tomorrow.

Yeah I have a couple of them now, a 6'0 & a 6'4. 6'0 is new, but still ride the 6'4 when its close to being a longboard day or if I'm not feeling too energetic

Still no surfing around these parts today. The weather is just starting to back off. I'm wondering if theres going to be some nice banks around after this weather.

I had to do a drive up the beachies and there were some lovely waves to be had at a few spots with just a handful of people on them. Shame Sydney Water lost 40 million litres of untreated sewage at North HEad yesterday morning during the powercut. Would not want to go near that water for a few days.

My biggest problem is the longboard or the 8 footer for this afternoon. My arms are almost recovered from what went down everywhere last week. I don't think I surfed a wave below 5 foot and the mid-length got its first taste of 8 foot waves. Oh decisions decisions decisions

After a frantic week I am back on a plane homeward bound tom night. Will be back at base on Saturday morning. After much thought I have decided to pack the 10 footer this time to add to the collection over there. Being at the storage shed tonight it just seemed wrong to have that board sitting there gathering dust after all the hard work that went into making it. There is one wave there that I have often dreamed about riding a log on when its small - breaks about 300m long - with a few sections in it. When its big it lines up though all the way though like a mini-gland. But alas I digress - I have seen this wave a few times the last few months at 2-3ft and just peeling off for miles. I will give the 10 footer a crack out there and if its all apples I shall let ya's know Now for the dilemma ahead on Saturday morning when I try to get it on the small plane for the island hop

Glad to see you boys getting some waves. My foot is fine and dandy so will be back out in the water as soon as I return. Expect a few pics as we head into prime swell season.

You will be a buff paddling monster shortly. 5'8" in 10 foot waves here you come.

On that, I had a paddling race in Sunday with a Brazillian I know. Him on a 6'2", me on an 8'. It only went for 15 metres or so but he kept up.

Good to hear the foots back in action mate...a 10'0 in Sanur is a great asset. Easy paddle out to Tanjunng's on a mid to high tide & your making sections the shorties would be battling to make. Such a great time on the East coast this time of year, its glassed off pretty much every arvo since I got back this time last week
