ok Weiry I now have some golf envy........please tell me you never played at Pebble Beach then surfed that big wave spot Ghost Trees when you finished Its a shame that it did not work out for you but its great that you had a chance......hats off from me. As Mac said that is a massive achievement and you should be very proud. I have a good mate who wanted to make it but fell just short....he is now making good wedge coaching China's up and comers at Mission Hills......interesting lifestyle that one
I have another good mate who signed some pro-forms at Southampton and then got injured.....did his ankle in - spent the next 3 yrs having 8 operations trying to fix things but they never worked.........he plays good golf as well by the way - naturally gifted sportsperson. I would love to have been a pro-sportsman in my younger years....I guess lots of us did........I always thought that Golf was the best one as you can play it for a while then come back and do the over 50's tour and still earn some decent wedge.........but surfing or snowboarding would have been better I reckon from a memories perspective - no where near as much wedge but loads of other 'types' of memories......
mac was actually on the wqs back in the early eighties. can't remember if it was called wqs back then. made a pretty good fist of it too. from memory i think he was a runner up one time in one of those japanese comps. that comp was held in rare special typhoon swell on the north west coast on the north island. but like many he lacked the funds to really make a go of it- sad really
he'll deny it of course
Still got that board Lacey you have a fine memory, now back to the drunk, just finished my second beer and feel pissed wow this non drinking thing is cheap
Bart
Lacey was a good shortboarder back in the 80's when I knew him,his mates were like the wolf pack in and out of the water.
25 years on I spotted him in some toy store which sold paddles and big really big boards,I don't know who lead him astray
over this period.
Well done all you fat bastards keep up the good work. Hope my favorite fat bastard scotty44 is doing as well as his rabbits are
The nicest people call me Kadi
I is a gingerbeer, I mean engineer
All the weight you guys lost, I found
I surf about once every 2 months now but that will change
I would surf my 6'9" fish but instead I surf a longboard because I am too slow, fat and old to have any real fun
Great thread Jas!!!
Too true! Probably should have taken out the long board that day. By the way Chrispy that's your guru SDRs local spot when he was a rockingham bogan like me
