Yes but today's was going to be the rarest of the rare - a non-storm associated groundswell. Typically a once or twice a year event. The next one is a typical cold front with strong winds and onshores, a dime a dozen. I'd like to think it got scared off when smicko gave everyone the heads up. Doesn't matter to him, he's off to Bali.

I remember scoring in similar conditions around this time of year last year...un-bloody-believable.

Went down for a grovel and had one of the best sessions ever, the shapes of the waves were like nothing I had seen before.

Seabreeze did not pick it last year, gotta read between the lines a bit.

I am keeping an eye on a few factors but gonna go for a wave in any case.

If you are half a chance of scoring, pack the bus and hit the road!

It peaked, if you can call it that, at about 6am. Period and swell didn't reach anywhere near the prediction and are dropping rapidly. Afternoon will be weak at best.

Brrr,
Certainly was dropping after sunrise...
A million desperados and aggro barnacle bills out where I was, wanting to burn everything in sight..
Not too many of the usual local friendlies, unfortunately.

I scored. Pulled up at 9 and it looked a bit so so watched it for ten minutes and a nice set came through and then it just turned on. Pumping little bazzas up to a bit overhead with some absolute canings handed out. Six of us out, big schools of mullet getting belted by little schoolies. Often when paddling back out you'd get a school of mullet trying to hide under you. Don't think I've ever seen six blokes sitting so close together in the lineup. Farking awesome morning!!

Coupla pics from the other day, gotta admit I thought it was gonna be more 4-6' than the 2-4' it was and there was a hell of a lot of driving involved for under three hours in the drink but then again I've still got that tunnel vision locked in the memory banks.

Sounds like I may have been at the same spot - I was also surprised by the lack of crew - but that breeze was cold!

I thought it got better after 10:00am - although a bit smaller, they seemed to hold up better and the rides were longer... weed is a pisser though...

I thought I'd give the toe a try with booties and had a ball. Two others only and a enjoyable afternoon dip. Probably was not such a good idea now though

My pre-sunrise solitude was well and truly smashed. Waves were occasionally epic.
