Y the crowds are still descending on out front is beyond me ?? packed to the brim even late arvo

I think we are getting old, had a chat to me mate about this last week, yanchep now has 10-15000 people living between there and 15 minutes south, mullaloo to mindarie has about 20,000 or more if you include 10km inland along there.
Where we would go as kids to 20,s has a local boardriders club with around 50-60 members ( and growing fast) so those waves nowadays are not really worth 45 minutes in a car unless it's midweek and out of covid unemployment.......
If we head south the town of Mandurah had a population of under 5000 until the mid 90,s I'm not sure where you would say Mandurah stops now but from secret harbour to south of Mandurah there is over 25000 people within 10km of the coast likely waaaay more during holidays and weekends.
This means a lot of the day trip or early morning worth the drive spots are effectively written off as they all now have 100 or more locals.
Places I surfed for ever and ever with no more than 4-6 along the beach you can barely get a carpark on the sand since they opened Indian Ocean drive.
This means anyone within 15-20 minute drive from the trigg-Leighton stretch just goes "down the road " and hopes for the best..............

The crowd this morning was well out of hand, it was decent with good waves but just kids in the way, people bailing boards, people calling off others on set waves and going straight.
there was a body boarded out there who dropped in on three or four different people, he was old enough to know better however no one is allowed to shake the little turds up anymore.

In essence we have lost any sense or a quiet place, we have lost every sense of etiquette, and as such people carry that attitude with them when they paddle out everywhere.

This is why down south and up north crew hate long weekends holidays and the like as their bastions or hope and solitude are destroyed then further someone who has been there once, taken there by a friend of a friend takes photos and puts them on insta, Facebook, and anywhere else they can, naming spots and sharing maps.
within a week there are 100-1000 people going to go surf that wave....

We have lost our way

Just found this. Seemed appropriate.
Only 7 years ago. Decent Scarbs with maybe 20 or so in the water.

Great video,
2013 was boom time in Perth so a mid week surf during office hours were a delight. Also everyone was travelling as the dollar was close to parity.
Back to the current, surf Monday and Tuesday, surfed like a crab. Glad to get the kook out of me for the next swell....

What an epic week, probably the best week of waves all year for me. Perfect conditions with so many awesome moments and Buster got pitted more than a season with Williams.
Thanks Huey!

I've had a few fun longboard sessions the last few days in the late arvo, banks at Perth's second favourite beach have been a bit deep with these full moon tides. Low crowd factor though!

Fun fact
Metro boardriders have been banned from holding events in the shire of Stirling after abusing people surfing in the comp zone last weekend......
some parents of kids on the beach complained about profanities being PA systemed up and down the beach and the city of Stirling pulled their rights to hold comps
they put it up on surfin Perth and it was quickly pulled down and deleted.
the fun part of this is that the next comp they intend holding will be outside of the city of Stirling..........

You mean a boardriders club didn't consider other people and thought they had the right to do what they liked, where they liked and to who they liked? No! Impossible! Not a boardriding club. They are normally so altruistic and empathetic, teaching groms everywhere good manners and social etiquette.

Good luck having those peeps at you local.

I went to one of my specialty spots and was rewarded with weedy caverns from which there was rarely an exit. Better waves down the beach, but I was having a blast. Not too peopley. I doubt there will be much left come sunnup.

Fun surf this morning at a Northern beachie. Got a couple of rippers among the close-out wanna-be's. Swell dropped about 11:30 and it became a bit of a waiting game... heard Trigg was throwing up some barrels late yesterday afternoon.

Friday Arvo- woweeee 4 waves in 90 min, 3 of them probably the biggest most intimidating waves I've ever caught at Scarborough
got anihilated by one of them

Saturday much friendlier but busy and pesky current kept pushing you off the peak...bloody nice waves when I got them

Sunday trip up to an old Fave, surprising that Smicko and myself got a peak to ourselves For 3hrs!!!! Great fun great shape waist to chest high runners

Today windy lumpy but still fun

cheers Huey

I beat myself off but I suppose that doesn't count, I was quite aggressive though..
Thats how you get the rash....

no no but seriously what??? Please do tell?
I had this thing called work today, it was quite an inconvenience especially knowing today was probably pick of the days for the week.

Apparently an Asian surfer got his head smacked in for getting in someone's way
From what I heard the aggressor was an older bald aggro surfer sprinkled with some racism for good measure
A bit sad to say the least

The above mentioned incident doesn't surprise me to be honest. Definitely a bit hectic in the water at the moment. few more banks and some cold weather will hopefully thin things out.

Been grovelling last couple of days. Very winters day onshore and cold No surf. Local footys back this afternoon then a few quiet beers next to the fire.

Its been a good few weeks.
