Depends on what you're hoping to see mate.
I study elasmobranchs so I'm always out looking for small sharks and rays because that floats my boat and there are plenty of both around Mettams. Have you tried mettams recently? Great vis and saw quite a few fish there this week.
If you're after normal fish then I don't really know dude. The reef at just south of the Cottesloe groyne is pretty decent, albeit not protected from the swell. Although we have none at the moment. Heaps of different fish in there, the endangered seadragon (been trying for 2 years to find them), the occasional small shark, rays, all sorts of cool anemones and other cold water corals and sponges. I've had a few dives there now where I've had two dolphins come and hang out with me for half an hour or so between bouts of smashing the local bream population
Depends on what you're after I suppose.
hmm i might give mettams another go.. i was there two weeks ago and the vis was really average.. could have just been that day though..
Been there everyday this week, or somewhere very close. Vis has been exceptional. On a day with lots of water moving around...forget about it.
Went for a dip in that little reef at Trigg yesterday for a quick cool off after snorkelling at Mettams. Didn't take my mask but could see lots of interesting structures to explore and saw some interesting fish. If the waters are calm enough it's definitely worth checking out.
Crystal clear all along the northern reefies, even "LAKE" trigg point is worth a snorkle today. I was out bennion street dog beach for a swim this morning and will hit the point with the kids for a swim after school.
Plenty of rays around at the moment and plenty of fish life at mettems seaward side.
cheers
Snorkeling at Mettams: Visibility good - 8.5 / 9.0 out of 10. Not as many fish as I have seen before, but some nice swim-throughs and we saw three sting rays - one about 5ft across in the sandy shallows on the northern end of the beach.
Definitely worth a splash if you like that sort of thing...
Zuke I saw yu had posted and opened thread expecting to see photos of some swell magnet reef somewhere! How disappointing!
Also went for a snorkel at Mettams, way better than last time! Saw heaps of fish and rays!
Had a dive at watermans in the Arvo and was still pretty clear even thought the wind had kicked in
