A couple of babyish dolphins visited Trigg this morning, one was on a wave just few meters away as I was trying to duck dive it (one of the only bigger waves in 3+ hours too) – love it

Non-metro beachie...

Shoulder high, good banks but the SSE wind was up (just white capping at 8:15am) and messing it about a bit. Some nice peaky take-offs, but most only gave a shortish ride. Long lulls between the better ones took the shine off a fun day...

Still nice to be out there getting a few.

Went for a bodybash today. First real waves in 3 months. Shoulder hurts a bit now, but it was manageable. I only got a few before the pain was too much but at least one was a nice little winding left hand barrel. I might give it another shot in the morning by the look of it.

Good to hear you are on the mend. But slowly does it...

I ended up back at the physio yesterday 'cause my ankle is still not right 14 months post surgery. Surfed today with it taped 3 times around and a belly full of anti-inflammatories. Pulled up OK so will prob do the same tomorrow...

8:30 Saturday:

Small, crowded and straight...

11 guys waiting, waiting, waiting at Metts rights... a small hip-high wave rolls thru and 5 guys 'party waving' it for all of 15m...

Trigg looked terrible...

I know it felt spooky in the water at 3.30 this morning, first surf in over 6 weeks. Was good.

^^^^ were you surfing by moonlight smicko?

Trigg had a few nice sets around chest height at 6 this morning, nice and sucky but it was dropping off fast. The more crew that turned up, the smaller it got.

Trying to, was really good between 3-4 and got worse as the tide dropped, should imagine it will turn on again as the tide comes up.

Another body bash. Good fun in between crowds of nippers. I reckon I got sunburnt, see how it gets later this arvo. Shoulder sore, but naproxen FTW. Police and ambulance turned up at the surf club with sirens blazing, hope nothing too serious.

Scarborough beach has been reopened this morning following a shark sighting.

The sighting, about 9.45am, forced the closure of the popular beach for about 45 minutes.

The Westpac helicopter was on the scene quickly, and found no sign of a shark near the shore

It was not clear what type of shark was spotted.

The beach was reopened about 10.25am with no further sightings of a shark.

Fisherman spots great white

A great white shark has been spotted in waters off Perth's northern suburbs.

John, a fisherman out on the water this morning, phoned 6PR radio just after 10am, reporting a large great white shark that had been circling his fishing boat about three nautical miles off Mindarie Keys.

"I'm in a 19-foot boat and this thing's the size of my boat circling it," John said.

The caller said he'd been fishing at Staggie Reef when he noticed a big fin in the water.

"I got a hook up with a fish and I looked over and there was this big (shark) next to me circling the boat," he said.

"I went to all the dive boats straight away to get them out of the water."

John said he had made a video of the shark on his mobile phone and pledged to send it in to the radio station's website.

^^^^ yeah, Trigg was sh#t this morning. Tide was way too low, wind cross shore and what little swell that made it to the beach was shutting down on the low tide.

All in all, if you gave Trigg a miss this morning you were a winner!

red thumbs for a surf report on a surf report thread? Doggie please don't report on forecast swell on a swell forecast website or maybe it was the holiday thing that earned you the thumbing
