not ideal Smicko but if you were patient and selective you got rewarded, plenty of power in the swell too, much better than last week.
I went away and scored awesome waves, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
however i really struggled to surf them. maybe it was a bit beyond my skill levels.
confidence levels took a real shot in the arm
Few waves an hour+ north of Perth.
Was glassy at 9:00am, but had a bad case of new swell wonk - was shifting all over the place... some set waves over head, but most only giving a very short and at times fat wall to work with. Wind started to gently come in about 9:45am and it was all but over by 11:00am ~ 6.5/10
Had some fins in the water - but thankfully some dolphins snaking us on the inside...
Struggled a bit with the new epoxy board - paddles fantastic, and catches nearly everything you point it at, and it is FAST, but it seems very skatey/twitchy... stuffed a few moves I would have normally made, board just went out from under me or skipped as it hit a chop...
GPA are you riding yours as a quad?
I also saw a 7'3" on line in Beldon? Is that yours?
Still yet to get a good play on mine. Was going today but woke up with a banging head ache.[}:)]
^^^
Nope - but Port Denison beaches were FULL of weed over Easter - 5.2m swell on the day before Good Friday... it was sitting over a meter high on the shoreline - for 2-3m wide and then a 20m weed soup into the water... even out the back it was full of small bits - Blech!
just got back from two hours at 2nds... was great today! did the morning as well.. morning was cleaner but has more size now!
Started at the point and let the drift take me..Ended up were i thought i should have gone out.
Had a bit of size but started to get sea sick it was that rough
Boxing last night, no dinner and a couple of hours paddling i was stuffed to say the least..
A few guys ripping though.
Looked alright this morning except work kept me without a board and a business proposal resulted in my ego and self esteem getting a battering like the size of 4m dumpers down at trigg on a stormy day.
Least to say, praying for good waves to let loose and may God watch out for those who drop in on me or whom I drop in on.
Was better than expected at Perth's most crowded beach... some shape at long last.
Got down a little late at 9:00am and I'd say I missed the best of it... was all over by 11:00am when the SW finally got hold of it...
Crowded but not ridiculous.
Right on GPA, had a surprisingly alright session. Even managed a mini close out barrel. Had a beginner constantly sitting in front of me and getting in my way. One turn and I'd stack it almost hitting him. Let it go cos I remember just last year that was me
What a difference a day makes; as it was close-out city with a side serve of back-wash early this morning... was just rubbish until the tide filled in about 10:00am... got OK until the SW'er started lumping it up around 11:00am...
lefthanders yesterday
(an no lefties is not a secret spot for all the clowns who wish to tell me off for naming it)
This morning was surprisingly uncrowded and started out okay but by 8ish the waves had lost all power and will to live
