Here we go again.
Severe weather warning for the Hunter with winds up to 45 knots.
Geez it must be our lucky week for the year.
That ship might just be there for good. For some reason that I don't understand removing a ship beached on sand seems to be terribly difficult.
There is a reef but they dont wont the public to know about it because if they pull it off it will rip the arse out.
Winds are just about 100kph at the moment.
Coastal watch has a camera set up at Nobbys on the ship.
Some big swell predicted today.
Thanks Donk, great live footage. Now's the chance for the Newcastle mob to get out there and get their 15 minutes of fame - there's a great rebounding wave on the windward side that smashes into oncoming waves and really stands up - a great ramp
Am I missing something ?
Why haven't the Newcastle Authoritys requested the ship owners to pump out and remove every drop of oil and bilge-fluid from the stricken vessel ? (days ago).
Why ?
But they do have floatation booms at the ready stockpiled on Nobbys Beach in case of an oil spillage when the ship breaks up.
The wild Australian coast has claimed many ships in the past,
unfortunately,
the Pasher Bulker will be added to the list.
'slave, having spent my younger life as the son of an ampol oil tanker captain and being privvy to shipping talk and spendin my childhood running through the bowels of tankers, i can tell you that a large ship has so many bilges, so many fluids and so many tons upon tons of polluting gunge on board that sending an I.R.B. out through the surf with a siphon hose is naive yet maybe noble in it's charming........well naivety.
disaster potential.....huge.
maybe played down at the moment. authorities are helpless.
salvage operators are no doubt moving in.
Nope. My skillz may be leet, but they are not that leet.
I'll stick with animating mast extensions for the time being :)
