I thought the handle between the footstraps on kiteboards was for carrying the board to the beach but I have since seen riders trying to reach down and hold that handle while in the air.
Are their foot straps too loose?
I love throwing my tea bag out of my cup.
They should start making the paper part bigger for more air time ?
Decrease the length of the lines to say 4M
The double tea bag draw string gives an intresting flight ?
Hmmm, a bit of flaming here just to stir the pot a little. I see some kiters are venturing out of the dark side again. Is all the talk of aerial ping pong this and that getting a bit boring on the kiters side. Reminds me of the Sydney Olympics and the ecstatic commotion generated by the moves being pulled by the triumphant trampoliners (they definitely bat for the other side) – hmmm similarities are astounding – puppets on a string, all image and makeup etc.
I have always wondered why kiters like to call windsurfers polesailers/surfers etc when all sailing involves the use of efficient rigs that are capable of going to windward as well as all other points and all forms of sailing involve some form of mast. I would never consider kiting a form of sailing. I wouldn’t consider it a form of surfing either, at least wavesailing (windsurfing that is) involves riding the waves, not only using them as a launching ramp, and is very closely related to surfing with much added complication and skill requirement. Thinking about kiting in surf, it is the lift of the kite that causes the height isn’t it – nothing to do with the wave face and power – hence so many view the watching of kiters in the waves as utterly boring and totally un-surfing like.
Mind you kiting does remind me a lot of skydiving, hangliding, paragliding and that dumb wanabee “not actually a sport” of being towed behind a boat (which is probably the closest to kitesurfing of all of them – especially on the skill level).
And that comes to the important question about the point most kiters keep throwing up. Why is kiting taking off – maybe because it is sooooooo easy to learn and any wannabe “cool airhead” can pretend to all that they are actually cool – why else do they all pull their manouveurs at the waters edge chasing the crowd. I would have thought part of being cool is doing your own thing, not seeking the crowd out so you can say “hey look at me” – how uncool is that.
Which also leads to another point – most windsurfers are into windsurfing for that feeling you can only get by being one with the rig and board and the long term dedication to progression – not grandstanding as kiting seems to be. Kiting actually reminds me more of those new-breed bogan jetski riders tearing up the beaches at waters edge and just crying out sub-consciously “hey look at me” – very needful things.
How's it going Hardie. Yeah - I found a few spare minutes to get myself sucked into the "fun" again - unfortunately I must be a flamer at heart (hmmm need to work on that ). Been a couple of weeks since I could last get out so definitely missing it. Even picked up a couple of new fins to try on the run (and Pt Walter) next time as well as seeking a big board for when the breezes ease off. Great to see everyone had a great time on the L2L.
Hows it going Min's - great recent sessions - Pinna's seem to be moving along very well. Flame-proof suit - hmmm these forums are seriously dangerous for ^%%t stirring. Oh well [}:)]
hey guys
i found outn today that my boss is a novice kiteboarder
i was just wondering if i have to be nice to him cos he is my boss or can i rip into him like you fellas?
seems like a bonus to me.
get him hooked then go sailing while he kites instead of work.
of course if he turns up to the beach wearing his shorts over his wetsuit, gloves, booties or anyhing flouro find a new job.
why doesnt everyone who hasnt tried windsurfing give it a go and everyone who hasnt kited give it a go
M.I.555 is that a BEAR CLAW. I have discussed them on the fourm before.
If they are attached to the top of the mast ,any strings that hit you will slide up the mast and go through the BEAR CLAW and cut the string.
And if you get tangled up you could at least whilst hanging on to the tip of the mast ,run the string through it, to insure you didnt get caught with it wrapping around your neck.
Back to jumping Big VERT FLOATERS AND NOSE FIRST LANDINGS

I also like the reverse kick out..........sail out kick the board out under the foot of the sail really quickly........at punters sailing in ....you don t drop any speed on the way out..... best done of smallish chop/waves.
