Heres more from the Mandurah Mob. First up is Nebs showing his duck gybing prowess and then me carve gybing.
I stil can't bloody CARVE! I can get the first half through planing then it just stops, sinks, I through the sail around and off I go again...One day soon I hopem the seabreezes are in now so I can start practicing again
What bender said.
We've all been there, and know the feeling! You're most likely going straight downwind and slowing down.
Number one tip is as Bender said don't lean back.
Number two tip is to keep your weight well inboard of the turn: try to get your chest over the inside rail level with the mast base. It feels like you're going to fall over forwards but surprisingly you don't... When you're there the board will keep turning as you pass through the wind, you need to remember to keep opening the sail as the board carves underneath you.
That's the hardest bit sorted, then you can plane out clew first if you like and flip the rig at your leisure. Once you can do this then make the rig flip earlier and earlier until you're flipping at the same time as you change feet.
For you guys looking for tips to come out of your gybes NEARLY as fast as you go in..

Wow, now I know where Mick Fleetwood from Fleetwood Mac ended up!! He's in Perth doing 1 handed lay down gybes
Stribo, How will I recognise you now?? Since I last saw you, you have a new board, new sail, and now a haircut. If you also tell me that you have a different van I will be really stuffed (I will assume that you haven't lost weight as well). You may have to reintroduce yourself!
Cheers, Rindwider (aka Windrider)
I shouldn't make comments about Stribo without offering up something here myself.
Cocos - nothing really special about the gybe, I just like the backdrop and the setting!
My attempt at a "Stribo Special".
.....of course I could also put this in the "Show us your stack" thread!
Tandem gybe with my son Campbell. It was his first time on the Tandem. Not exactly a planing carve gybe but we have done it.... really..... I swear..."
