Thought I'd give it a try. 1st attempt on youtube. Had a ball with some freinds

Yeah its fun isn't it? The helmet mount is my favourite and currently only perspective I've shot from.

I'd recommend trying to sail close to other windsurfers as it improves the footage.

If I'm water starting or beach starting I drag the mast straight across above my head, now with the height difference, I've already lost count of the times the camera takes a hit and my neck as a result. Wondering now if that's why Sausage mounts his on the side of the helmet.

Yeah, I first mounted the GoPro onto of the helmet but that did not work. Mounting it on the side is the answer but not many helmets beside the Gaths go down to the ears. Fortunately I have a Gath.

Side mounting brings another issue. Some of the shot will have your nose/beard/sunnies/eyebrows in it. They never move. So its a bit weird.

The answer to this issue is to mount the camera as far forward as possible and then to use the mounts to get the camera away from the helmet and getting a little bit more forward.

This vid demonstrates the issue of the side mounted camera being too far back.

Cheers Moby, I'll give that a try. Helmet's starting to look like swiss cheese,
