Fangboy just email the files from your phone to yourself then download them when you get home.

Loving "speedchat" on the phone, makes it so easy to maximise your speed on a run. Didn't use the gps much the last few years but GPSLgit has got me amped up and enjoying a good fang. Hearing your speed in realtime is a game changer and I'm windsurfing faster every session.

Yep Roo I tried all the various methods of sharing the files and certainly the email method works best for me. It just irked me that the files don't show in the Sony Mac Bridge app.

I may have missed it but has there been any talk of the app becoming available for iPhone?

No problems. Downloaded and installed. Easy. I opened it and browsed to the internal storage also easily, but could not see any GPS-Logit log files.

I opened the file browser on the phone itself and soon found a folder in the Internal storage called 'GPS-Logit' containing the .SBP files I recorded today. But that folder still does not show up in the Sony Bridge file browser. I have asked Manfred if he knows why and how to fix it.

Andrew - did you have any luck with why this ^ is so? I am also on a Mac and have exactly the same issue. I will use the shuffling files method that Decrepit sorted out but I just wondered if there was an easier way? (cos I am really lazy!)

I have not got a solution yet but the strange thing is that after turing the phone off, recharging and doing another session, the GPS-Logit file did appear in the Sony Bridge file browser! But it only shows the previous session from the day before and not the new one! How weird is that?

I can't email them to myself since I didn't activate the sim card. That may be a good reason to do so.

No need to activate the sim card if you connect the phone to your home wifi and get internet access that way rather than through 3G/4G.

I'd rather pay $48 for an Android phone that's so cheap it's pretty much 'throwaway' if it gets wet and dies rather than risk my nice expensive iPhone that I use for everything else but this.

+1^ on that. this is working well for me. Also if you have a Gmail account, uploading to your Google drive is a slightly neater solution and you also have an instant backup of your results.( Once again via your home wifi)

Stu 777 - to quote Manfred "..unfortunately the development on the iPhone is more difficult and costly..." so as Cambodge says get yourself a Xperia from Tricky Dicky. I still cant believe a smartphone of this calibre is $48, even if they are chucking them out because they are discontinued.

And finally - this is a Pelican i1015. I am getting one of these to protect my phone from impacts - I wear mine on top of my helmet and every so often I head-butt the mast and vice versa, so I thought i would go for an 'indestructible case' . It says its water resistant but I cant find a rating, it does say it is not for diving. So I think I may put a cheap waterproof pouch around the outside if needed.
There is a 1015 version that is much cheaper and would be the ducks nuts if you have waterproof bluetooth earbuds. No speaker jack would make me think it might be more water resistant as well.

Bluetooth earphones would have to have their own power supply, no? I'm not sure I want a power source in/near my ear canal in a wet environment?

Good point, I was just going to plug it into the bolts in my neck
Seriously - some the ones I looked at seemed to have the battery case in a neck strap/ loop that ran around the back of your neck.
having said that I am going to stick with normal ear buds for the time being- no BT is one less thing to go wrong.

Did my display off static test today, BIG +ve is that after 8hrs the battery was still at 74%, so if you were trying for a very serious distance you'd almost get 24hrs out of it.

The BIG -ve is for some reason, it was no where near as accurate, instead of the 14m Igot yeaterday over 7hrs, I had 369m over 8hrs. And there was big gaps in the record, instead of a steady 1 per second, I got holes of up to 56seconds!!!
Come back if I figure out what's going on, maybe it just doesn't like the display off.

It will most likely enter into powersaving mode when you turn the screen off.

There may be some filters built into GPSLogit that don't record below set speeds. Anyway static position has always been a poor measurement of gps performance unless you are measuring trackpoint position.

The latest version of GPSLogit is out: http://www.gpsresults.com/GPSLogItV1.15trial.apk

For those interested in the idea of waterproof Bluetooth headphones, I tried it today in my car connected to the Bluetooth radio and it works fine speaking the speeds over bluetooth. Still no wind to try on the water unfortunately.

Another bonus of the bluetooth is that you can copy the SBP file directly off wirelessly if you pair the phone to your PC. A bit easier than having to connect USB cable etc, and might work better for those with Macs? I guess this isnt a new feature (the BGT31 probably did this) but I thought it was nifty nonetheless.

I think the power saving mode is quite likely, it certainly isn't a min speed thing because it worked fine the day before with the display on.

Not yet, but I want to swap her for Billy Connolly, with some added 'motivational dialogue' for when your last leg or alpha is not as good as previous ones :-)

I am set for speed and I must say these bags and ear phones are very high quality I will test it for leaks in the pool today before trying but I can't see them leaking.
They come with a arm band and neck strap the ear piece fits and feels really comfy it also come with three sizes of ear pieces.
I got them at RV Boating at Capalaba they also sell online if anyone wants to order one www.boatingandrv.com.au/

By the way I call her Heidi

Hey Glynn, just take care that the seal is in place correctly. I have had an Over board pouch leak in the past and destroy a phone, but when I tested it after it had no leaks so I guess I had not sealed it correctly the first time. Worth watching out for.

Yes I can see it would be easy to not clip the locks over 100% yes will be careful.
The arm band feels too sit well on the arm yet to try it on the water though.

Manfred agrres with this, but can't reproduce my results. I'll do some more tests, and see if I can figure out what's happening.
But in the meantime, if anybody's tempted to save battery life by turning the display off, do some tesing first!
Manfred says some phones have settings for power saving, so depending on phone you may be OK.
Bbut there's nothing apparent in the Xperia settings.

Sorry if this isn't the right forum to ask this - i plan to use the Xperia phone mainly for GPSLogit but I will earn extra brownie points from my beloved if I have the ability to call home if I am stranded somewhere far from shore. So does anyone know if there is a telco, that provides a SIM card and plan that is super cheap, pre paid and doesn't expire for yonks?

Fangy, it was a year and a half ago, so may not be available now, but, look at LYCA mobile. I put $20 on it back then and am still using it now. Mainly to receive calls.

You mean you didn't get the $49 deal from Optus????? I haven't activated mine yet, but from what I can make out from what I read, it's going to cost $10 for 6months!!!!! If you don't use it any more than 10days. (look at the prepaid daily plan). How much cheaper do you want than that?

Sounds great, but if you have the trickydicky optus phone you also have to unlock it.

Oops, it appears it might help to read the fine print that came with the phone, rather than just looking at the Optus plans online.
Thanks for setting me straight there Decrepit. And Seaskip, when the time comes, if need be, I will unlock the phone and have a look at the LYCA option. ( do I even need to unlock this phone since its on a prepaid?) Thanks fellas.

I'm fairly sure it won't work on any other carrier unless unlocked regardless of plan.

to be unlocked most of those prepaid phones will need either :

a) to have charged a minimum of credit in them (ex vodafone & optus used to need 80 $ spent before allowing unlocking)
b) a fee to unlock it straight away
c) a certain time before being allowed to unlock (from 6 months to a year)

Unlocking is done via their website, I managed to unlock a vodafone for free cause I was overseas.
