I've downloaded GPS-logit. When I open the app a message come up that says:
"GPS disabled! Enable it for recording..."
I press OK, however the unit displays "no GPS fix"
I've checked to see if the GPS is turned on on the phone, it is and this is confirgmed as google maps works and shows my location.
How do I get GPS-Logit to access the GPS?

some times although it's showing satellites, it doesn't have enough of them to get "a fix" especially the first time you turn it on, when it's also got to work out where it is.

Go to the "location" setting, gpslogit should be there as one of the users, mine shows a list of apps using location services, with a battery use indicator alongside, of course GPS logit is shown as a high battery user.

Last week I emailed Manfred, saying there'd be a lot of windsurfers prepared to pay for a version that didn't expire, and asking if he had a time frame in mind for finishing the trialling phase, but I've had no reply.
Guess we just have to wait until Manfred is happy with it, hopefully that won't be too long.
In the past Manfred has a new version up within a few days of the old expiry.

Yes would be happy to pay ..
Still showing version 19 at my end?

Any tricks to allow a time expired app to work?

Just asking as I missed yesterday's session and going out again today

Cheers Jeff

1:20 working on here

How do you give feedback about the app?

I've been using speed talker. What I need is a repeat of best of run and best of session. I have my phone speaking but not using headphones. I listen for the run result when I stop. Sometimes stopping involves a massive amount of disorientation . I miss the summary of the run

So an option to keep the talking summary going while I'm reorganising myself on the board would be nice

Cheers Jeff

I have just returned from a few days Skiing and found that GPS-Logit makes a fun skiing app as well. With a few tweaks that I suggested to Manfred it would be really good! I especially like the bit where it tells me how fast I am going as I bomb down the hill and then repeats the 'last run' top speed as I enter the lift queue!

I was surprised to see that the trackpoints are quite good resolution. Compared with other GPS I have used skiing, this one can actually show a lot of the turns on GE. Before it was only 5hz ones that I saw that with. The 1hz tracks were pretty random looking, but that might just have been my skiing!

I must also say that the H20Audio waterproof bag Roo recommended is one of the very best waterproof arm bags I have had the pleasure of using!

Not sure what software you're talking about, logit version 1.24 is now up expires on 7 august. If you have a phone with Android version prior to 4.2 you may be in trouble.
Or is there something else that needs updating?

Its good to have the regular updates but wish they didnt expire on the weekend. By the time I download, then get a weekend windy day, the version has expired.

They expire just before the weekend, which means that before you can go sailing on Saturday you have to mess around with downloading and installing the new version. Most annoying and delaying when you just want to catch that wind before it dies!
If it expired just after the weekend that would be a lot more convenient.

The app never expires, it's just your phone that gets out of date. Before sailing set the date on your phone back a couple of days before app expiry and it will work fine.

Well my phone appears to be a year out of date, for some reason it still thinks it's 2014.

I'm really looking forward to buying a permanent version and get my phone back into real time.

I put an improvement suggestion to Manfred to adjust the frequency of the verbal speed update. He replied and advised that the next version would include the following options for speech: Off, 1s, 2s, 5s, Last Run

Version 1.25 is out expires 17th aug. And yes it has those choices of speech interval.

Yesterday I flattened the battery on the blue tooth earphones after about 4hrs, it's supposed to do 6hrs.
Next time I'll recharge it over lunch instead of just turning it off.

And that's another good thing about GPSlogit, you can turn the phone off to save battery in your breaks, without creating multiple files.
As long as you don't hit the "stop recording" button it uses the same file.
Of course if you forget to stop recording one day, you could end up having to separate two days from each other.
I guess if you see "stop recording" when you turn the phone on, it would be good to do just that, then hit start recording, to create a new file for that day.

I'm still trying to figure out how to adjust the volume on Sexy Sadie as it's still a bit quieter than the tunes being played.

Mike,
I had a problem with the wind whistling in my ear when using the water proof ear buds on the blue tooth earphones. Have you had the same problem?

No John, but I wear a Gath over the top of them.

Found out today, that when in the zoom view, speed chat gives the results of whatever is selected, found it very useful for alphas.

did a pile of alphas today, and there's a bit of a difference between the GW52 and xperia logit. The logit gives consistently higher results, the GW gives me 1 at 23kts the xperia gives me 6.

The number of xperia's satellites decrease in the gybe in the worst case going from 11 to 1, whereas the GW52 stays the same through the whole alpha.
The fact I wear the GW52 on my head and the xperia on my arm probably has a lot to do with this.

So it would be good to do some tests with the Xperia on the head and the GW52/GT31 on the arm, I'll think about this while waiting for the next blast.

I solved the wind whistling problem with one of these thin neoprene headbands over the ear phones, also stops them from falling out
