OK Dudes, Maui Fin Co. C/o Alberto @Windshack, want to give away one of their fins to someone who dares to windsurf in a winter storm!!!!!!

It goes like this:

You have to sail in winter, using a GPS, to record your session and post it here on this thread. The competition runs from today till July 20th 2008. All entrants will be placed into a draw, and the winner picked at random. You must be able to present an eligible gps track that shows you sailing over water your track needs to be demonstrable on google earth. (Not riding your bike on the streets)
Only the winner will be required to post their google earth track on this thread. If the google earth with gps tracks gives away a spot then it will be accepted in private.

Fin specs:Maui Fin Company SL 30cm 2008 Tuttle Box valued $ 225.00

This fin is the evolution of the first SL 2007 model. After testing different profiles with Micah Buzianis we made this model faster then the previous one with keeping the early planning characteristics. A lot of PWA racers switched to MFC this season, proving the superior performance of this model. Ideal for Slalom condition, it can be also used on freeride boards to go faster!

Actually you have to sail in a non-heated olympic sized swimming pool

Anywhere where you would normally windsurf!!!!!!

Would be good to get a photo of the conditions as well... Dark foreboding clouds, branches impaling themselves into the rigging area, dogless chains...

I'm hoping your not taking a winter storm literally, ie beaufort force 10 is a storm by definition and I don't like sailing in 48 - 55 knot winds

Will a "near gale" do for entry purposes Hardie

GPS Display Maximum Speed: 21.2 knots

Conditions: A cold, strong but gusty south westerly wind. Choppy water.

Where you sailed (Code ok for secret spots): Georges River at St George Sailing club.

Equipment: Old NP VX2 5.9 sail, Tabou 105 board, old Torquay Fins WC fin.

Details about Self: 37 years old intermediate

Comments: Not much fun and did not stay out for long. The sail was too big for me. Its the first time I have used the board and it was good. Fortunately I didn't fall in as I got very tired. I went up to Narrabeen later and it was even colder up there and was raining. Worse still it was not very windy there.

GPS Display Maximum Speed: 28.5 knots

Conditions: Freezing water, cold wind. A dash of rain, and the penguins were huddling together in the park to watch.

Where you sailed (Code ok for secret spots): Canton Beach NSW

Equipment: Mistral Syncro 115, NP 6.0m v8, 30cm Weed/wave wardog fin

Details about Self: 36 years old intermediate, now with extra aches and pains from sailing after no decent wind for 3 months.

Comments: The BoM predicted 30/40 knots, but I'm guessing it wasn't much over 20 or 22. It was just like sailing in Safety Bay in summer, minus about 12 degrees in temperature. It was flat water though, especially when the rain fronts came in.
