Seabreeze arrows are continuing to predict reasonable winds this weekend. Prognostic charts are indicating another low will form in the Tasman Sea, similar to last weekend.
Clearly the forces that be, believe its important for us to work hard during the week and then enjoy our recreation on the weekend.
A welcome change from the last few months.
fingers crossed, although racing my laser last sunday avo was pretty good fun. still rather be windsurfing.
HI Moby,
I learnt my lesson the hard way a few months ago about talking up the weekends forecast. It seems strange but you can definately put the brakes on a good weekend by being too optimistic. I'm not having a go at you but hopefully you can learn from this and in future keep the optimism on the inside.
I'd organised to have the weekend off and even spent a few hours carefully wet and drying my smaller speed fins for the monster wind that were coming and now look at the forecast. Nothing!
So now it's up to me to do the wind sacrifice and turn up to work tomorrow so that you guys can get some wind.
If it's any help, to balance out Moby, I've been playing with the camber spacing of my biggest formula sail, looking for more power, in the hope of using it on Saturday. Hope this all helps guys. I'll be the one blown off the water down at Palmie Golf course tomorrow.

Sorry guys but I guess I got my wish. Palmie golf course today with the 10.8 and wishing for bigger.

Yeah it was putting around the river for me today near Coffs
Good day for teaching a mate but, he got going well
Coulda had double my 6.5m up but
Anything coming up the coast?
good think i stuck the formula gear on the car just before heading to meerkat. I havent taken it out for a proper sail in 2-3 months & clocked 48km's today (both distance & speed PB), now cant move
Dead flat water & around 10-18knots, didnt drop off the plane once.
Sorry to rub salt into the wound guys
Meerkat. I wondered what that spot was. I saw someone out there a few days ago when it was 35knots W. It looks like it could be a pretty good spot for NW/W/SW. Are there any hazards like jumbo jets, police, or urchins etc? Whats the best wind direction?
Hazards are all the perverts and sickos in the sand dunes doing do who knows what to each other. Another is the rigging area, basically the dirty rocky median strip in between 4 lanes of 90kmh traffic!
The spot can be very very gusty but if you get good winds it really is a hook in and hang on kind of spot. Best to get as close as you can to the runway to make the most of the flat water.
seriously Dav, the people you see going into and coming out of the bushes is very very worrying. Apparently there are Police raids there every now and then. People complain about the goings on but it falls on deaf ears most of the time. Apparently also there is construction going on at present of high wire fencing with barbed wire on the top but at least access to the beach is not resticted. It's all academic for me as I will not go back to the place. I'll take a gusty Palm Beach or Narrabeen Pond in a westerly over that place any day.
I would hazard a guess that the fencing is for the construction of the new container berth which will be starting very soon. They hope to have it operational by 2012. Not a very big image, but looks like the berth could mean the end to windsurfing in this location, and an end to a few other activities as well.....
Another place some people might want to consider with a westerly is the western side of the harbour. There is some open space there and not too much water traffic, mainly the river cat ferries which have a fairly defined path. I was out just on the eastern side of the Ryde bridge yesterday and it was pretty good.
I saw a sailor out there last week (one arvo during the week). looked like he was having a good time - not an inviting spot but I've sailed worse - might give it a go if we get a westerly on a weekend - only 3k's from were I live - we can't all live near the coast.
Not sure I would sail there in summer though to many active bull sharks!
Yeah I grew up sailing race boards on sydney harbour & parramatta river so I have a pretty solid understanding of the what its like. Havent sailed at that spot in particular but used to sail westerlies at hen and chicken bay which is very close to your spot.
Yeah I would definately say that if you have the time to drive to botany its well worth the trip, more wind, a little less gusty, more water and other people to sail with.
Personally I think Kurnell is probably the only half decent place in a westerly in Botany Bay. That adds a HUGE amount of travelling time. Foreshore has its documented problems, Kyeemagh is offshore, Sandringham may be ok, haven't looked there in a westerly yet but the runs would be pretty short. Anywhere else Krusty?
If the westerly has any north in it, go to kurnell, if it has any south in it go to la perouse, case closed.
guess it aint no secret spot anymore krusty. You could have sailed from the nthrn end of the wanda carpark yesterday, no surf though
