guess it aint no secret spot anymore krusty. You could have sailed from the nthrn end of the wanda carpark yesterday, no surf though

The secret spot will remain secret no one could pick where it is and most people in sydney sail flatwater so even if everyone new where it was there would only be a handful of us sailing it while everyone else cruises the flat water.

Personally I think Kurnell is probably the only half decent place in a westerly in Botany Bay. That adds a HUGE amount of travelling time. Foreshore has its documented problems, Kyeemagh is offshore, Sandringham may be ok, haven't looked there in a westerly yet but the runs would be pretty short. Anywhere else Krusty?

What Dan said is pretty spot on, but there is another top westerly spot that no one sails much. The very north part of cronulla beach, "Boat Harbour" is cross shore in a westerly and has very smooth water and clean wind not very gusty. This would be by far the best westerly spot I have ever sailed in sydney. However it does have a few problems, it costs $18 to drive into the park (its a privately owned 4wd park), you need a 4wd to get to the beach (you dont really the sand is so damn hard but the ranger wont let you past the beach entrance) but alternatively you can drive to the 2wd car park and then walk about 200m to the water this will still cost $18.

just as well I have a 4wd then

yeah me too Dav. I thought about snorkeling it on calm days but never did it occur to me you'd sail it.
I still say it's a long way to go for a sail particularly so considering where I live
BUT, definately one for a weekend westerly expedition.

Yep its far for me too, nearly an hours drive - and eighteen bucks to have a look? What if its crap on the day? but you cant' tell until you get there! Have to be pretty sure of getting a sail in before I pass over the money. I'm not into 4WDing so the place has nothing else to offer me.

And if you break some gear, you could be in for a free tour of the Tasman.

How big does the swell have to be to go down the line at Voodoo??
Port tack in a westerly?
Maybe it's a bit sucky.. like the break at Margaret River, good for HUGE aerials..!...or else..

We got some epic "secret" spots around here for westerly wavesailing. Conditions a right once a year though. Windang used to have the best sailing conditions in a north westerly with swell but the stupid walls are in the way now.

You cant sail Voodooo in a westerly its dead off shore and theres no way I'm naming exactly where the secret spot is all those who have sailed it know where it is and those who havent, tuff cookies!
You need anything from 2-5ft for good DTL sailing any bigger any you will get smashed as there isnt alot of water! Its only sucky on the first section after that it turns pretty mellow but this means you can still smash some good aerials and gives you some awesome jumping on the way out.

You would have to get dragged across the reef before venturing on your free trip.
