There was a definite expressed preference for the main stretch of Pittwater from a couple of the other guys. ie: ASC.
I'll in for the Peter Loft marathon tomorrow! Could be a good Raceboard fleet.
Rob - nice Exocet missile youve got there.
In our chat after the marathon you said you'd be interested in Longboard racing on Pittwater on Sundays.
Is BYRA your preferred choice should we choose to align the group with one of the local clubs?
Byra would be a good choice racing between Long Nose and Scotland Island. I would race every second Sun.
The wind was up and down a lot probably between 10 and 18 a lot of the time. There where skiffs, 505's an A class cat or two and hobbies heaps of lasers a good fleet of race boards and a formula board. I won't go into the handicap but the 16 foot skiff (I think they are the national champs) won the line honours by a small margin to Justin on a Formula board using a 12m. I not sure who came third, but the race boards weren't far behind the leaders. The cats where pretty quick upwind but the skiff and Formula board killed it on the downwind run.
Yes big congrates to Justin Lord, a massive effort. The windsurfers certainly held their own on the day, by all accounts. Looking forward to reading about the race on the Windsurfing Religion blog
It was close between 1st and 2nd, Justin nearly beat the 16 footer but the formula fin mean he couldn't get as close to the shore as the skiff before a run to the club house bell.
I'd have to say it's in the middle of the big loop at the end but for some reason not showing?
Looking at the geometry of the headlands shown it looks like the track is relatively close to the North & West shore of the island
Hey guys,
I wrote my recount on my blog.
By the way did anybody pick up my GPS and waterproof case? It seems it hasn't made its way home

I was planning to stay on the plane!! Ha ha
I am still looking for a cure for dyslexia, (there is none)
Sounds like you sailed awesome well done
The problem with yardstick / corrected time is the wind drops out when someone is still racing. I guess it is just a bit of fun nothing serious
I had the opportunity to sail but chickened out - needed a smaller sail than an 8.5 today!
But am intending to give the Raceboard and 8.5m a run tomorrow from about 1pm to 4pmish.
I'm keen to do a bit of a marathon from SaltPanPoint (just north of RMYC) to the heads and return. Or to LionIs if the wind is of comfortable strength.
Anyone else keen?
Just myself and AyreForce out there today as the sun was sinking. The RPA fleet had all gone and we had the bay to ourselves.
Couple of informal windward and return races between the yellow mark off Paradise Beach to leeward and the red one between Woody Point and Scotland Island to windward. Nice breeze, but pretty gusty, 8 - 15 knots or so. Cold - glad I didn't fall.
Salty,
Left the 8.5 semi-rigged in prep for today's forecast wind. I'm hopeful of perhaps a 1pm to 3pm session.
Launched from SaltPan at 13:45 into zero to 2 knots - forever hopeful that the norwest would swing as forecast to west and increase to 10 - 15kn.
Rocked the fins back & forth and worked every favourable zephyr to arrive in dead calm off Taylors Point around 14:15
The breeze shifted west, puffed on & off down the north side of Scotland Is.
Had some good light wind 3-8kn practice, returning to SaltPan still in perfect sunshine at 16:30
Saltyheaven, did you have better wind in the morning?
Oh yeah, I had one of the most sublime sails ever. 9am - 1pm. Headed out to Broken Bay in just enough wind to rail into the northwester. Once out there it was a blissful 12-15 with water sparkling like diamonds and light like an eternal sunset. I sailed 'round and 'round between West Head, Patonga and Lion Island on a buzzing high with not a soul in sight.
I' m off on Monday .The weather looks promising it's a near perfect wind direction for Pittwater. I'll be on the water from 11.30 am on wards on Formula board or slalom board. Sorry, no long board yet I'm repairing a Sydney Olympic training board from the Italian Team.
I hope to be out and in to the westerly mid-morning - before it gets too much for my skill (or lack of) with an 8.5m2. See you out there somewhere between Avalon and Norwest cnr of Scotland Is.
I 'll be launching out fromTaylors point, with wind direction turning west it will make the things easier.
Some hefty 25kn+ gusts (around 12:30 to 13:30) made yesterday’s Pittwater session quite a challenge.
Didn’t have enough weight or strength in these gusts to prevent being screwed up into the wind and being slammed on my back into the drink.
Retreated back to shore for the warmer long-john wettie and protein sustenance.
Yep - I need smaller than 8.5m for winds consistently over 20/23 knots!
Back out at 15:15 the breeze had moderated back to 5 to 15kn to make for a memorable arvo session railing to windward and a few back strap hoots downwind; returning to shore around 16:40.
BeachStart scored plenty of fast runs before, during and after the wind peak.
Apart from the occasional motoring vessel, we had the whole sunny Pittwater to ourselves!
Looks like there could be some more good wind for later this week /weekend.
I had a great time with a strong breeze and a warn sunny day.I was lucky to see Australia II coming back to shore at the end of the avo.
What a beauty ! It was nice to share a sail with you AyreForce1. On lighter breeze, I couldn't catch up with you on many runs this long board is flying like a rocket. I'll be back, Pittwater is such a magical place.

Any GPS speeds on the RB s?
I get my toys back tomorrow so out this weekend on what ever mother nature blows at me.
Tomorrow's forecast wind direction is looking good for Pittwater - Stokes Point to northern end of Scotland Is.
Will we get some of the DAC crew??
We could meet over at BYRA; race down to Stokes; then regroup at Stokes for some windward-returns.
I have a couple of raceboards what are you looking for?
Belly
Are you offering boards for sale, or wanting to know what board you should sail on Pittwater?
So fess-up Belly, what boards have you got?
I got a bit confused thinking you had a Div II and an Equipe but I realized that's what BSN was after.
