It's been a little while since posting last but I thought I'd lift this up the page a bit.
With the LT Worlds finally happening in Perth this coming Christmas/ New Year period, there's been some reawakening of the local Pittwater LT crowd and a few local entries are starting to appear on the list. Hopefully we can get a bit of momentum going and build on numbers as the Worlds approach.
I'll be doing some more winter sailing from RPAYC, and building the tempo as summer approaches (RPA, PBSC, local regattas, Summer Series). Should be a fun summer, hope to see you on the water!

P.S. the LT mid-winters are being held at some place called St George Sailing Club in July. I'm not really sure where that is because it's not on Pittwater but I've entered them too...
Hi all, just a subtle reminder that tomorrow, 01-Aug-23, marks 150 days until the first race of the Windsurfer LT Worlds.
Just in case you were wondering when to start your training regime!
would be cool if we could get some Marks in and get together for training on Pittwater. I Sail IQ Foil there a lot and tend to resort to gybing around the pin for the yacht racing

Len, there's a lot of official waterways requirements if you lay marks and have races. Best option currently for sailboard racing on Pittwater is Palm Beach Sailing Club which operates from Sand Pt. Season opening day is Saturday 9 Sept. $235 to join www.pbsc.org.au/membership
We don't have many sailboarders, but we are hoping that some of the RPA fleet might join us this summer. As a foiler you might enjoy racing our Hobie 16's etc
BYRA have a foil training program - don't know about their foil racing.
Just a heads up but the BSC crew have been sailing a lot in preparation for the Perth worlds.
Yes they're super keen & super competitive - best team probably in Aus - I've joined them Wednesday arvo a few times to receive a harsh reality check
WLT Practice Tuesday 29 Aug with Adam AUS-268 NE 8-18kt. Upwind against the middle of an incoming tide.
2hr 15min 14nm 6.2kt avg moving speed 13.3kt max speed
I was doing a lot of turnback gybes rather than tacks to keep in touch with Adam [who hasn't been out since b4 winter, and I have a 29kg advantage]. But by the time we got up to the fresher breeze north of the Palm Bch channel mark, Adam was rapidly closing down the gap.
My short but sweet session today in what I've been calling "LT Alley"
It only works at high tide with SE to S winds. I must be trying harder with my training 'cause I fell in for the first time training in what seems like forever!
Don't forget, season opening day at PBSC next Saturday and I hope all the local LT's are there...

Yeah, as the tide started dropping it got to be a tight squeeze... ;)
Windsurfer LT Practice today, Mon 4 Sept'23 ~14:30 to 16:55 mostly NE 5-15kt
15.56nm 6.3kt avg 11.7kt max
From West Hd to up & around the Lion & return past West Hd was difficult. Very lumpy, easterly swell coming in against the outgoing Broken Bay tide. Was very awkward to work through and maintain trim & balance, as the wind faded contrary to the forecast, with the side-on swell sometimes threatening to roll me.

Had a good day on the LT out on Pittwater today, even if the promised Nor-Easter didn't really materialize. Clocked up some good k's and even managed to spot another LT out training (LT 1944).
I kinda lost count, but I think I did 6 W/L's in all. Thanks go out to RMYC for leaving their mark in the middle of Pittwater off Salt Pan, upwind of an unused police mark off BYRA, for me to used all afternoon!
Anyway, stunning day to be on the water, hopefully a tad more breeze tomorrow...
managed to squeeze in another long weekend session.
Nothing much to write home about, but a nice day to be out on the water.
Just a few trips up and down LT alley in a light ESE...
Ooo, not much action posted on Pittwater Longboards this summer, that's not to say nothing's been happening though...
There was a lot of training going on over summer in the lead-up to the Windsurfer World Championships over the New-Year break on the Swan River, Perth! We sent a team of 6 locals to the Worlds and one even brought back a gold medal as world champion in his age group! Results varied from race winners at the top down to me at the bottom but everyone who went had a great time.
The next worlds are in Barcelona in September this year, and a few are talking of going to these too. I'm not sure where the 2025 Worlds will be but rumor-control is mentioning some pretty nice locations (Mexico and Bermuda to name a few).
Anyway, I got out for a light air session today to try and loosen up my injuries, we'll see how I feel in the morning. Started to head up to the big pond, but it was looking a tad glassy, so went back to Dog Park and played in the nice Easterly that was coming across from Newport Beach!
Here we go, just a short sail today, and Ayreforce will be along shortly with a much better track, but a really nice session on Pittwater today.
Bring on summer...
